Certified Trainer and animal lover!
I have trained my own dogs for years, but only recently became professionally certified so that I could help other owners. I have attended several basic obedience classes through the years as well as completed AKC Canine Good Citizens and AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy classes. I believe in positive reinforcement training for maximum results. I will work in your home with you and your pet. This provides added comfort and safety. Additionally, we can put training commands in real world context. I also include training that helps your pet be less stressed at vet visits.

What to expect
Consultation
During consultation I will need to understand the dog's problem behaviors, health concerns and limitations, any previous training and age. It would also be helpful to know of any limitations the owner may have.
Sessions
I require owners to be present at all training sessions. If there are other family/friends who are involved with the dog care, I would strongly recommend they attend as well. Consistency is key to successful training. I will provide demonstrations of commands and have you repeat it to make sure you understand the method and goal. Typically we will meet once a week to give you time in between to work on the commands with your dog. The next session will include new commands but a thorough review of how the weeks' training went with your dog on your own.
More info
Positive reinforcement works the best. Providing treat rewards, although eventually tapered off, helps solidify training goals. Good solid training strengthens the owner pet bond for years.
