Calm for fearful, reactive dogs
I work with fearful and reactive dogs, dogs settling into a newly adopted home, and dogs who are overwhelmed by the city — the ones who feel everything. My focus is helping them feel less on edge and learn how to settle, using clear structure, choice-based methods, and close attention to what each dog is communicating. Sessions are private and in-home, in Brooklyn and New York City.
What to expect
Consultation
Consultation, 60 minutes, in your home. We start with a phone consultation and an intake form so I have the basics and your training goals before we meet. We go through your dog's history in detail during the session. Reading your dog is the first step. We look at what they notice, what they avoid, where they get stuck, and what their body language is telling us before the behavior escalates. That's what tells us where the work needs to start. From there we begin building communication and working toward your goals, at your dog's pace. I follow up in writing with notes from the session.

Experience
I follow LIMA principles (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) and don't use punishment, corrections, or aversive equipment. Everything starts with reading the dog's body language. We build trust through communication and agency. From there we work on the emotion underneath the reaction — relaxation, regulation and decompression tools to bring arousal down. Sessions run in the home and on walks, where the behavior shows up.
