First, I like to evaluate the situation and identify Owner’s goals. Then, each goal gets broken up into smaller steps that the dog and Owner can complete. Once successful, I like to “proof” commands to ensure the dog truly understands. Lastly, I increase difficulty by increasing duration, distractions, and distance. Patience is key, but also making it fun for everyone is really important to me too.
