Let’s make training fun for all!

My history of working in animal shelters and with recent adoptees can help with your beloved pet no matter how many years you have been together. I have worked with a variety of behaviors and have experience with: dogs with bite histories, resource guarding, environmental nervousness (may look like potty training issues or destructive behaviors), crate and alone time training (although I will refer more serious cases of separation anxiety to other professionals and consultants).

Consultation

During your consultation we will first discuss your training goals and discuss any management needed. I ask that you have your dog in a flat collar or harness, if you are currently using a bark, pinch or e-collar I would love to discuss other options. Once we have an idea of your goals, we can discuss how to get there together. We can do a little bit of introductory work or just play some easy get to know you games. Afterwards, you can have some time to ask any further questions and we can decide together if you would like to continue training!

Sessions

Typically in your home

In your first session, get ready to play together - training is all about fun! We will work towards your goals together starting wherever makes the most sense for your goals. Please make sure to have your vaccine records, appropriate equipment that we discussed at your consults, plenty of high value treats (value is different for everyone but cheese, hotdogs and other stinky stuff tend to be best) and a preferred long chew (bully stick, Kong, duck foot) or a toy (maybe two!) can be helpful to have available. We can also chat about these items during the consult if needed!

Positive Reinforcement

I use science supported training methods to help dogs and their people live their best lives together! I use positive reinforcement with experience in cooperative care, dog play and introductions, reactive dog work towards neutrality and adapting a nervous dog into your home. I have years of working with shelter pups (and kitties too) and now am able to take on more clients outside of my shelter work.
