Highly Experienced Behavior Pro
I specialize in working behavior cases where we use evidence-based positive reinforcement techniques to change the underlying conditioned emotional responses that drive behavior. I'm especially skilled at working with aggressive and reactive dogs because of my background in sheltering, but I love an opportunity to give a new puppy a great foundation and start just as much.

What to expect
Consultation
The consultation is our opportunity to sit down together and get a detailed history of your dog's behavioral needs as well as discuss your goals. The consultation is also our opportunity to talk about how dogs learn and why various training techniques are preferred and used to address different types of behaviors. I like to ensure that even after the consultation clients are left with a few exercises and goals to get started on while I build a behavior and training plan.
Sessions
Sessions are our opportunity to begin really working on behavior change. Depending on the behavior sessions will typically start by building basic skills that can be used as alternatives to unwanted behaviors in a low distraction environment free of triggers. Once those basic skills are in place, sessions can be moved to more distracting environments where we strengthen behaviors or work on desensitizing and counterconditioning your dog to triggers that cause them distress.
More info
I strictly use evidence-based training techniques that are humane and aimed at addressing the underlying conditioned emotional responses that drive behavior. Aversive tools and techniques may get compliance from a dog in a given moment but exacerbate the underlying fear, anxiety or stress that is driving the problem behavior and in so doing often lead to deeper distress in the dog and unpredictable aggressive behavior. Training can and should be fun and rewarding for your dog and build their self-confidence and sense of trust and safety.
