Behavior-Savvy Dog Trainer + Walker

As a behavioral dog trainer at the Quincy Animal Shelter, I specialize in understanding what makes each dog tick. No two dogs are the same, which is why I tailor my training approach to fit your dog’s unique personality and needs. By taking the time to observe and understand your dog’s behavior and temperament, I create a customized training plan that aligns with your goals and fits seamlessly into your lifestyle. Together, we’ll build a happier, more confident dog—one step at a time.

What to expect

Consultation

The first session is a simple, no-cost, no-commitment meet and greet, where I learn more about your desired outcomes from training and general questions you may have. From there, we would build a regimen together that encompasses all aspects of training necessary to help improve the relationship between your family and your furry friend. Training takes time and patience, but with the right strategy, huge breakthroughs can happen as soon as this free consultation!

Sessions

Typically in your home

A typical session starts with showcasing the rights and wrongs with certain dog behaviors or actions. Once we've highlighted the issue, we discuss tips and tricks to use to correct those behaviors. At the end of the session, we debrief and go over our observations and answer any questions before sending you off with a physical list of things you need to do as "homework" to instill these good practices in your dog.

Positive Reinforcement

I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement training with corrective measures taken when necessary, like pushing a dog away to create boundaries and nudging them off the couch when they shouldn't be there. I use the example "if your infant son or daughter is running around the house with a knife, you don't simply say 'put the knife down, Timmy' - you forcefully remove the knife from Timmy's hand. It does not matter if Timmy is upset about your actions because he needs to learn right and wrong. Those learning moments are the same for dogs and just as important
