What to expect
Consultation
During our consultation we will review your dog’s behavior. I will explain how I think we can solve the issues you are having and I will prevent you with a training plan. This happens rarely, but if I end up not being the right fit for your particular case, I will know where to send you. I have been doing this a long time and I know that sometimes there are other trainers and behavior professionals who handle certain cases more efficiently. I have no issue with referring you to them if I think the case calls for that.
Sessions
Prior to your sessions I will need you to verify your dog’s vaccination records. Once we are clear to train, we will begin by teaching your dog foundational behaviors needed to complete the training plan created. You are expected to practice with your dog in between sessions in order for us to progress through the training plan.

I tend to classify my style of training as a reinforcement based trainer. The reason for this is because I will analyze cases and figure out what is reinforcing the dog to exhibit the behavior that is less than desirable. Sometimes it is an appropriate reinforcer and myself and the dog owner are able to add that to the dog’s routine in a productive way. Other times it is not an appropriate reinforcer, so we then eliminate what is reinforcing the undesired behavior in order to decrease it. We then replace the unwanted behavior and reinforce the new alternative behavior.
