Dog training should be fun!
I learned by training shelter dogs before working with the public. Now I teach group and private training classes at the local shelter. Training should be fun! If you and the dog are getting frustrated, give my methods a try.

What to expect
Consultation
First sessions are usually spent going over the dog's health and behavioral history. I want to get a clear picture of what behaviors you are seeking to teach/change. The more detail I can get about the dogs daily activities, the better assessment I can make.
Sessions
I normally teach hour long sessions, or sometimes 30 minutes for highly distracted dogs who can't work for a full hour. How many behaviors we can cover in session depends on the severity of the behavior. The important part is I am teaching YOU how to train your dog. Training is based in habits and routines, so you need to be a part of it. Lots of my training is designed to feel like games, so it's fun for you and the dog!
More info
I adhere to the humane hierarchy and LIMA approach. Basically I start with the method that is easiest on the dog, and work my way up the hierarchy as needed. If a dog can sit by being lured, then they don't need a leash correction. LIMA is better for the dog, and your relationship with them.
