Calm Certified Dog Training

What sets me apart is my real hands on experience with dogs and their families. I have been active on Rover for nearly five years with over 100 reservations, consistent 5 star reviews and many repeat clients alongside my wife, Elizabeth. I understand what pet parents deal with at home, on walks and in busy city environments. My sessions are calm, honest and practical so you leave with clear steps, realistic expectations and a better understanding of your dog.

What to expect

Consultation

The consultation is a phone call where we discuss your dog’s history, daily routine, current challenges and training goals. I will ask questions to better understand your dog’s behavior, environment, triggers, lifestyle and what you are hoping to improve. This is also your time to ask me questions, share concerns and decide which training option makes the most sense for you and your dog. After the call, I will recommend clear next steps and help you understand what to expect from training so you feel informed, prepared and supported before we begin.

Sessions

Typically in your home

A typical session begins outside on neutral ground. We usually start with a walk because movement helps many dogs settle, focus and get into a better training mindset. Please have your dog on a secure leash and harness. If needed, we can discuss using a slip lead safely. I observe your dog, explain what I am seeing and guide you through practical exercises in real time. Pet parents are expected to be present and involved. Training works best with short practice between sessions. Progress can take time and sometimes feels harder before it improves as we break old habits and build new ones.

Positive Reinforcement

My training philosophy is reward based, calm and practical. I use positive reinforcement, marker based communication, clear routines and real life practice to help dogs understand what we want from them. I focus on teaching better choices instead of using fear or punishment. Every dog learns differently, so I adjust each session to their age, personality, confidence, energy level and home routine. My goal is to help your dog feel safe, build better habits and give you clear tools to keep progress going between sessions.

Availability

I primarily offer training sessions during daytime hours on weekdays so I can give each dog focused attention in a calm and consistent environment. I also have some weekend availability, mainly mornings and early afternoons. For select dogs, I offer short board and train options in my home, including three day and seven day programs. These are best suited for puppies, basic manners, leash foundations, crate comfort, confidence building and routine structure. I am flexible when possible and happy to discuss the best schedule for you and your dog.
