I’ve raised cats, dogs, rabbits, and chickens, and I also work closely with the animal lab at the Science Museum of Virginia in my hometown of Richmond. About: I grew up with a variety of animals, including several senior dogs. I fostered several dogs through the SPCA throughout my time in college, and am comfortable with a variety of behavioral and medical needs. I currently have two dogs of my own, one of which is a rescue. I work remotely, so I’m flexible to check on your furry friends throughout the day. If I do have standing weekly meetings, I’ll be sure to communicate those times so you know when I’ll be by. I do not do sitting in my home due to the reactivity of one of my dogs. I am very conscientious and careful with pets, and will make sure to watch your pet with a close eye, crate when needed, and utilize leash and outdoor safety skills when outside of your home.

“Moriah combines adroit technical expertise with amazing cat whisperer mojo. Our cat Casino needs to use an Aerokat steroid inhaler to control his severe asthma. (Steroid pills have twice given him diabetes.) It took me months to get to the point where Casino would sit beside me and take nine breaths while I held a rubber mask over his face. It’s tricky, and you can’t force it, because if he has an aversive experience, next time he may refuse altogether. Moriah had never used an Aerokat before. Although Moriah uses a similar device with her daughter, and has a lot of veterinary experience, our vet was skeptical, and advised that Moriah come over several times before we left, to learn and practice with Casino. This was not possible. Moriah said to just send her a video showing what Casino and I do with the Aerokat. So we did. Our first night on the road, Moriah sent a video of herself and Casino using the Aerokat PERFECTLY, all 9 breaths!!! In other matters too, she did a great job assessing and handling the situation. I would trust her to look after any special needs animal.”

About: We (Annalise Seal and Raina Davis) offer double the care for the price of one. One of us is more experienced with cats, and has four of her own, and the other has more experience with dogs, with one of her own. We’re familiar with cleaning up after pets, and we have previously administrated medicine by mouth to both dogs and cats. We are both capable of walking multiple dogs at a time. Concerning our experience with special need animals, we’ve had several jobs with dogs in need of daily medications and other pets in need of special attention. We aren’t afraid to deal with any accidents that may occur, and aren’t afraid to get messy if needed! Overall, we’re responsible pet caregivers confident in taking care of both our animals, and others. We both have part time jobs, but have flexible schedules and are available to work overnight. We prioritize the care of your animals and are willing to make time for them when needed. We will take the animals on daily walks and routinely ensure they are being taken care of to the best of our abilities. We will take the time to properly get to know your pets so we can assess if any behavior is out of the ordinary.

About: I'm friendly with all kinds of pets, both kitties and doggos, I have a very peaceful home very welcoming to new critters. Plenty of room to run around and exercise. Currently working part-time for the summer, can easily give your fur baby's the attention they need whenever you're busy or out of town. Plenty of space behind the house to get them lots of exercise. About: We grew up with dogs and have been dog-sitting for thirty years. In the 90s, we had “Pampered Pets” in Boston, then we moved to Washington, DC, where we rebranded as “Top Dog DC,” and now we’re in Sperryville, VA, with “2 Dog Hotel.” Also, in the early 2000s, we raised four “Guiding Eyes for the Blind” puppies. Puppy raisers are critical to many organizations that train working dogs. Future guide dogs must be socialized in warm and loving homes, the puppies are fun, and puppy raisers learn about dog psychology and training. However, it's still not easy sending the pups off to college. Having done many "Intervac" house swaps, now we're getting into house sitting. We can take care of your pets and your home while you travel. We spend much time at home on our patio, gated deck (squirrel TV included), near a cozy wood stove, or on the nearby hiking trails. Since we spend so much time at home, keeping to your dog’s regular schedule is manageable. When we have dogs, we rarely do things where they can't join us. We only take care of one or two dogs at a time. The truth is we enjoy the pet therapy we get from dog-sitting, and the therapists seem to like it too.
