“Julie is incredibly kind with Romina and treats her as if she were her own cat. She kept me updated with photos throughout the stay, which gave me so much peace of mind. She made sure Romina was well fed, spent time playing with her, and even slept beside her. It was clear that Romina was loved and cared for the entire time. I’m so grateful and would absolutely trust Julie with Romina again.”

“We left our pup for the first time and we were so thankful to have Lee taking very good care of him! She stayed in our home for 5 days. The house was spotless when we got home, and most importantly our pup was happy! She sent lots of pictures and you can tell how much she really cared for him. She went above and beyond for us!”

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life, and have grown up around dogs. I currently own a German Shepherd and Coton De Tulear, both of whom are my pride and joy, along with the rest of our pack. I understand that these precious souls mean so much to so many people, and promise that under my care and supervision they’ll be treated with the utmost respect and love, just as if they were my own! Starting August 24th, I’m enrolled full-time in college, so I’ll be available M/W - before 1pm and Tu/Th - after 1pm, all day Friday, and no weekends. I can do full-day house visits (no overnights), drop-in’s, and walks. It’s all dependent on what my clients homes are equipped with! If you have a fenced yard and high energy dogs, I’m more than happy to take them outside to play and explore, or play inside. Treats are always an option, as are pets, cuddles, and plenty of love for your fur babies!

About: Hi, I'm Brooke! I’m 19 years old and have been around animals my entire life. Growing up, I was never without a pet, and caring for animals has always come naturally to me. My first cat, Hunter Patches, was a huge part of my life before he passed last year. Since then, I’ve welcomed two new cats, Loki and Marie, into my family. I also have a 10 year old rescue dog named Gunner and recently rescued a bearded dragon named Dino. I’m comfortable caring for cats, dogs, and reptiles, and I understand that every animal has their own personality and needs. Friends and family have trusted me to feed, play with, check on, and care for their pets while they’re away. I’m patient, attentive, dependable, and genuinely love spending time with animals of all kinds. Pet care fits naturally into my daily schedule because caring for animals has always been a part of my daily life. I have a flexible routine and enjoy spending time feeding, playing with, walking, and giving attention to pets throughout the week. I will care for your pets like they’re my own by keeping them fed, comfortable, safe, and loved while you’re away. I’ll follow their routines closely, give them plenty of attention and playtime, and make sure they feel calm and cared for in their home environment.
“Kellie stayed with our Frenchie (7 yrs) and English/Frenchie mix (1yr) for 10 days. It was the first time leaving the 1yr old. Kellie did an amazing job handling our two girls with very big feelings, making sure they got plenty of exercise and love while we were away! We would not hesitate to ask her to sit our girls again!”

About: I’ve taken care of animals my whole life. I now have 2 dogs and 3 cats who are my entire world and also take care of 6+ other animals when needed! I’m currently a student working part-time, so I am available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at any time! On the weekends I am available for stop ins only. I have a fenced yard and 2 friendly pups who can keep your pets company! I also have 3 cats if you need one of your animals to work on socialization skills.
“So grateful for John! Very understanding of the difficulties I had leaving my Luna for the first time like this - sent me multiple texts, pictures and videos assuring me she was doing well and happy. Very flexible with my schedule and made the point to come meet Luna ahead of time on a previous day. Very attentive to Luna's schedule and her specific little quirks. Luna clearly enjoyed her time, giving John a super speed tail wag and some kisses before we left.”

“Adriana does such a great job managing our two younger (read: energetic!) dogs while protecting our elder dog from their antics and still making sure all three have what they need to be happy and well. It's such a blessing to be able to leave town without a single worry, knowing they are in such good hands.”

“Yelitza was absolutely wonderful with my pups. She stayed with them at my house while I was away, and spent plenty of time with them to keep them happy and loved, - walks, plays, and snuggles. She was very engaged and meticulous, and I was very happy about the whole experience.”
“Alyssa was so great with my critters (2 small dogs and one cranky cat) while we were out of town for a wedding. One dog is a recent adoptee who is a very skittish girl- so a little more to handle. Alyssa kept her comfy and safe at home for us. We truly appreciate her and will definitely book again !”

About: I’ve taken care of numerous dogs breeds since I was a little kid. I use to care for farm animals on my grandmothers farm. I have 2 dogs currently & they are treated like spoiled children. I love animals, but especially dogs. Just seeing their face & wagging their tail brings a smile to my face. I am a school social worker, so I have summers off. I love animals and looking to make a little extra money this summer. I am flexible and eager to start meeting your furry friends. I take my two dogs out on leash everyday 3x a day minimum. My dogs eat twice a day and get lots of cuddles and play time. My dogs are my kids, they get to sleep in my bed, special toys and treats and all the lovings. I am happy to learn your animals routine and needs.
About: My family adopted our first puppy when I was 5 years old and I assisted with the training and care of all 3 of our dogs since then. My childhood pal lived to be 16 and I helped take care of him throughout all stages of life. I work a 9 - 5 in person but have plenty availability before and after work for early morning or early evening walks. Weekends and weeknights are no problem for my schedule. Please lay out any specific care instructions for long-term visits so I can ensure that your pet is getting the same care and regimen from me as they would you.
About: Owning dogs has been nothing but a learning journey. I’ve done dog sitting for years for family and friends. I’ve had my current dog, Raylie, for 6 years now. I am a part time worker at a dental clinic so my hours are normal daytime 9-3 on the days I work. Animals and pets help fill that extra time :) My house is in isolation on 9 acres of land. There is plenty of room in the house for your dog to feel welcome and at home.
“Quinn stayed with our dogs and my dad’s dog for a week and she did an amazing job! She was very communicative and sent pictures every day which I really appreciated. Our house was very clean when we got home and she left a note for us about how the week went in addition to the messages she had sent throughout the week. We felt very relaxed on our trip because of her updates and our dogs seemed happy and relaxed when we got home! Highly recommend!”
About: What sets me apart is my lifelong experience caring for animals. I’ve had pets my entire life and understand that every animal has unique needs, personalities, and routines. I’m patient, attentive, and committed to making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I have experience caring for pets of different ages and temperaments, including energetic young pets that need extra play and attention, as well as older pets that benefit from a gentler approach and consistent routines. I treat every pet as if they were my own and focus on providing dependable, compassionate care that gives owners peace of mind. 🐾 Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because caring for animals has always been a part of my life. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate quality time to feeding, walks, playtime, exercise, and companionship based on each pet’s needs. I am reliable, organized, and committed to maintaining consistent routines so pets feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. I also make sure the home stays clean, secure, and exactly as the owner expects. If caring for pets in my home, I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment where pets can relax, play, and receive plenty of supervision and affection. FAQs for House Sitting - Shepard Settlement
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 392 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shepard Settlement. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shepard Settlement walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shepard Settlement maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shepard Settlement choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shepard Settlement. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
