About Heading Home K9 Rescue
Heading Home K9 Rescue was started in the Spring of 2011 in Minneapolis, MN as an offshoot of Homeward Bound Dog Rescue to assist in the rescue and placement of homeless dogs. They are a 501(c)(3), non-profit dog rescue that receives no government support. They have a soft spot for the dogs that others are most likely to pass over: puppy mills, seniors, big black mixed breeds, heartworm positive dogs, and animals who have been injured.
Heading Home K9 Rescue is 100% volunteer-based and does not have paid staff or board members. All the money they bring in from donations and adoption fees goes directly back to the dogs. They do not have a central facility, as all the their dogs are fostered in individual foster homes. Because their dogs live in foster homes rather than a shelter, Heading Home K9 Rescue knows them well and is able to make sure that a perfect match is made between the dog and its new home.
