Tabatha was a wonderful dog/house sitter for our last-minute getaway. We had very short notice to find someone to watch our dog. We reached out to Tabby through Rover, 2 days later she met us at our house and the following weekend she stayed over to watch our pup. She was kind, flexible, kept us updated throughout, took pics, and left our home exactly as we had left it. Our dog seemed to love her, I think he might like her more than us! She gave him treats and spent tons of time with him outside. I highly recommend Tabby for a stress-free experience, and we will certainly use her services again in the future!

Gabrielle is amazing. Left our house in better condition than we did! And my pups absolutely love her. She was great with my cats, too, who rarely show their faces to anyone but our family. I hate to recommend her so highly, because I want to make sure she is always available for us when we need her! But she is amazing. I do highly recommend.

About: Hi I’m Olivia and I love taking care of dogs and cats! I am 22 and currently a student at Penn State. I have 4 cats of my own and love to be around animals. I have been dog and cat sitting for almost six years now and I absolutely love doing it! I enjoy taking care of pets of all ages and love to run and walk with dogs as well. I’m great with younger pets that have a lot of energy as well as older ones who are more relaxed. I’m very responsible and reliable and take pet sitting very seriously. I will give your pet much needed love and attention while you are away or unable to be there for them! When I’m home on breaks or holidays I’m available pretty much whenever! I will always keep my availability up to date and will work with clients to fit their needs. When caring for pets in my clients home I always respect the pet’s space first. I’m coming into their home and want to make the pets feel comfortable.

About: I have taken care of cats for at least 20 years now. I would love to help someone out by taking care of their cats when they cannot. I am retired so I would have a lot of time to take care of your cat or keep them company for a while. I love fur babies. I have three indoor cats and one outdoor cat that comes in to eat and sleep. They get plenty of attention. I would love to add more Cat friends to have fun with.

Ilene stayed at our house with our three small dogs while we were away for a week and she took the best care of them! She sent updates and photos any time she could, and she made sure to follow the extra instructions I had for miscellaneous things around the house. The dogs really seemed to enjoy her and I would rebook her anytime!

For the first time ever, our cat wasn't traumatized by our vacation so Khadijah has my high recommendation! She kept trying to make friends with our antisocial kitty, took good care of him, our bird feeding, our plants and our home. She reported daily with photos which I really appreciated. She's responsible and caring and I'm grateful to her!

About: I've been around cats and dogs my whole life, but started taking care of dogs around the time I was 12 and moreso with cats around 13. We adopted a dog when I was 12 and I fed her, walked her, bathed her, taught her tricks, played with her, we'd even cuddle! We fostered a dog from a hoarder and had another dog after the loss of the last one and I continued to repeat the cycle with this big crazy whippersnapper! Where I was working part-time just closed for the season, so I have plenty of free time for playing with your pups and kitties!!! When I'm not in school, I'll be taking care of my pets and helping my mom out with them around the house, she does Rover too and recommended I get on it. For drop ins, I like to meet the pet first and learn about their likes and dislikes and where to find all of their things. I like to ask questions on how to make sure they feel most comfortable with a new person and try to follow that advice to make sure they feel their best. For walks, I like to get an idea of where they like to walk and any behaviors I can expect while walking them before we head out on our adventure!

Very attentive, calm, and professional. I really appreciated that they were able to instantly get a long with my dog, who typically gets nervous around others. Excellent communication and frequently checked in with both messaging and photos. Easy to get a hold of, and I had no issues or concerns about them in the home. Would highly recommend and rebook.

We couldn't be happier with the way Eren and Luca cared for our two young cats while we were away! They gave them so much love and attention, and were very patient with our skittish kitty, monitoring him carefully to make sure he was getting enough food when he was too anxious to eat at regular mealtimes. They were great about checking in and sent us lots of video and photo updates, making it easy for us to relax during our trip in the confidence that our cats were being well taken care of. They followed our instructions carefully and left our house just as they found it. We highly recommend them!

Kaela was amazing with our babies! We have one very shy girl who takes awhile to warm up to new people. Kaela went above and beyond to help our Maggie feel comfortable with her. Our girls had a great week with Kaela and I think they missed their new friend when we came home! So thankful to have found a great sitter to watch our babies when we travel!!

Maria was an amazing dog sitter! She came to our house ahead of watching them to meet our pups and get information about their daily routine. When she watched the dogs, she sent daily photos and updates, providing us with ease of mind while away on our trip. We would love to have Maria back to watch our dogs in the future. :)

FAQs for House Sitting - Shamrock Station

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Shamrock Station on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,455 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shamrock Station. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shamrock Station walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shamrock Station maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shamrock Station choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shamrock Station. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
