“Hannah took great care of our dog while we were away. She sent us so many pictures and updates, took him on long “sniffaris,” and even took care of a little wound near his ear. Hannah is an experienced, caring, and dedicated sitter who clearly puts a lot of time and attention into the dogs she looks after. We felt very comfortable knowing he was in such good hands!”

“Tavonne was an incredible sitter for our Canelita! She gave us regular updates on how our little one settled into her new environment and sent pictures so we would see realtime how Canela made other furry friends. I highly recommend Tavonne’s services to put you at ease during your next out of town trip!”

“This was our first experience with Rover, and I couldn’t be happier to have found Cristen and Michael. My pup was truly loved and cared for by them. There was no kennel—he had the run of the house, a fenced-in yard, walks and playtime, and I received wonderful pictures throughout his stay. It was clear that he was treated like one of the family. My pup is actually a senior citizen, and if he gets a vote on his caregiver, he’d pick Cristen and Michael. I would too. We couldn’t have asked for a better first Rover experience!”

“Aurelia was amazing with our girl! She was so wonderful and took such incredible care of our pup while we were out of town for Christmas. Even when our pup got herself in a bit of trouble, Aurelia was gracious and caring. We got pictures and reports throughout, and our dog was as happy as could be! We are so grateful for the care Aurelie and her family gave our dog!”

“Nancy was simply wonderful! Her home is perfect for dogs, with a “they can sleep anywhere” policy suitable for any couch potato like ours! She has her own well behaved dogs who were friendly and very undisturbed by the arrival of our guy. He was happy as a clam with her and I am rebooking him immediately for our next trip.”

“We cannot say enough wonderful things about wonderful Michele! Our anxious Shih Tzu can be very nervous around new people and changes in routine, but from the very beginning, she showed incredible patience, kindness, and understanding. She took the time to make Charlie feel safe, comfortable, and loved, and it truly made all the difference. We received updates, photos, and reassurance while we were away, which gave us complete peace of mind. It is clear she genuinely cares about animals and treats them like family. We are so grateful to have found someone we trust completely and would highly recommend her to anyone, especially those with anxious pets!”

“Priscila took such great care of George! She sent constant updates and photos. He loved playing with his new friend Dobby (her dog). We will definitely use Priscila again in the future!”

“We had a last minute trip to San Diego planned and Cynthia was able to watch our precious Benny! She was very communicative and flexible as our plans changed a couple of times. She was so welcoming when we dropped off Benny and we felt at ease. She sent us updates and pictures throughout the day which was great. We would definitely book with Cynthia again!”

“This was the second time we left our two dogs with Priscilla and it was a great experience again! She sent us videos and pictures of our pets having fun and other moments. This time we left them with her for three days and they loved it! She is our official dog sitter from now on. 🥰❤️”

“Linda watched our dog while we were out of town this past weekend and we could not have been happier with our experience. Linda quickly responded to our request and questions, and was communicative all weekend. Booking was easy and drop off/pickup was flexible and smooth. We received updates everyday and several pictures of how Gunner was doing during his stay. In all the pictures you could tell that Gunner felt right at home and when we picked him up he was exhausted from playing. Linda went above and beyond to make Gunner feel at home and make us feel at ease leaving him. We will definitely be using Linda again and would 100% recommend her.”

“Ashley and Chris took amazing care of my boy while I was on a trip and I am so appreciative! Would 150% recommend them for caring for your furry friend. Not a single bad thing to say, just thanks!”

“Rhonda is truly the best sister we could possibly have for our sweet girl!! She is so kind and thoughtful and always makes sure we know our baby is well taken care off. Updating us regularly and sending pictures. We will always continue to use her.”

“Angela is the absolute best. She provided the best care and treated my dog like a king. My high energy dog came back so well behaved and incredibly well groomed, she treated him to spa days, made him amazing homemade health treats, stuck to his routine and provided me so many updates and pictures I was never left questioning his wellbeing. I almost don’t want to leave this review so I don’t have to fight for her care in the future. But she is honestly the best care giver. I don’t want anyone else watching my dog but angela at this point. 100/10. Thank you angela ❤️❤️”

“Chris is a wonderful pet sitter. She takes care of your pet just like it is her own. I had no worries about my pet when I left him in her care. A very pleasant experience with a pet sitter. Thanks!! Debbie and wolfie”

About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with pets and have owned three wonderful dogs over the years—a Shetland Sheepdog, a Chocolate Labrador Retriever, and my current Terrier mix, Bandit. In addition to caring for my own dogs, I've volunteered with a local dog rescue and fostered dogs, giving me experience with a variety of breeds, ages, personalities, and temperaments. Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, or simply relaxing with company, I'll make sure they receive the individualized care and attention they deserve. I'm also comfortable administering medications and following detailed care instructions to help keep your pet healthy, happy, and comfortable. I work full-time during the week. Because I want every pet in my care to receive plenty of attention, I offer boarding in my home on weekends, when I can dedicate my time to walks, playtime, cuddles, and maintaining your dog's normal routine. During the week, I offer drop-in visits for pets who need potty breaks, meals, walks, medication, or companionship while their owners are at work or away. This schedule allows me to provide dependable, attentive care while ensuring every pet gets the time and attention they deserve. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big decision, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. I'll carefully follow your pet's routine and keep you updated with daily photos and videos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. Because my dog, Bandit, will also be in the home during boarding stays, I require a meet-and-greet before accepting new boarding clients to ensure our dogs are comfortable together and are a good fit. My goal is to provide a safe, low-stress, loving environment where every dog feels welcome, secure, and cared for like family.

“Suzanne was AMAZING! My dog, Dixie, is an older pup who is deaf and has pretty bad arthritis, so it is always tough leaving her when we travel. However, I truly had no worries with Suzanne taking care of Dixie. She sent constant updates and made sure Dixie was as comfortable as can be. We feel so lucky to have found Suzanne, someone we can trust! 🐾🐶🤍”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Seaview home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Seaview.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Seaview sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
