“This was my first time boarding my Aussie, and I was honestly a bit nervous — but she did an amazing job reassuring me from the start. She made the whole process feel easy and stress-free, which I really appreciated. I was especially worried because she has three dogs, and my Aussie can get a little overwhelmed. But she handled introductions perfectly — slow, one at a time — and my dog adjusted way better than I expected. Fast forward to pickup time… I think my dog may have forgotten who I am Not only was she completely comfortable, but she had already decided that the husband was her human now (and she normally reserves that level of love for my own husband). At one point, he was petting one of his own dogs, and mine started whining like, “Excuse me?? That’s MY attention.” The jealousy was very real. So overall: ✅ Great communication and reassurance ✅ Thoughtful, safe dog introductions ✅ Happy, well-adjusted pup ❗ Slight risk your dog will try to move in permanently Would absolutely book again — just emotionally preparing myself for the betrayal next time”

About: I have grown up around all kinds of dogs all of my life. Dogs who are scared of everyone, love everyone they all hold a special place in my heart. I have always wanted to do this ! I am a stay at home mom with two dogs of my own, so I really have a very open Monday-Friday Schedule and I am open to discussing weekends! I will treat them just like they are mine, and mine are spoiled to a core. All dogs are special and deserve to know they are loved.

About: I’m an active working veterinary assistant with 15 years of experience. I’m looking to pet sit in my home small dogs up to 20-25 lbs. I do have kids, cats, and my personal dogs- everyone gets along 😊 my personal dogs are all crate trained and can be kept separate from your baby if needed. The kids loovve helping take care of any furry creature and are well behaved with them. I am able to bring your dog with me where I work should it be needed. I am home all day Saturday, Sunday, and Monday but would willing to look after your furbaby during the week as well. I will only be taking one dog at a time (they will be throughly spoiled while here) I can administer any medications needed and can provide bathing services. I hope to meet you soon! I work full time in a veterinary hospital Tuesday-Friday. I am home all day Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I care for animals all day, everyday I do have a fenced in yard and my pets are all up to date on vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventions. I can provide specialized care for senior pets or those with medical needs

About: Ever since I could cognitively understand and control my actions, I have been helping care for animals. As a first grader, I independently took care of a caterpillar I found for a month straight. As an adult, I guarantee your best friend is responsible hands. Whether it is food and exercise, clean up, or even pet prescription schedules, consider it done, and done well. I'm ready for any dog, any size, and cats too! I have a full time job Monday through Friday with a regular schedule of 7am-4:30pm. Most weekends I am practicing visual art or taking care of chores around the house. So, breaks are flexible and easy to take in order to spend time with pets. Overnight pets are acceptable Friday to Saturday or Saturday to Sunday. I wake up early, so there is no worries when it comes to oversleeping. I have a large fenced yard and live in a forested neighborhood with low traffic. Plenty of space for dogs to walk, run, and play around. If your pet is skiddish or struggles around other animals, I have a large room (think 600-700 sq. Ft) where they can spend time indoors and/or overnight. Plenty of pet treats and toys are readily available.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

96% of sitters in Sandy Level can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Sandy Level home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Sandy Level.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Adding another pup to the pack? Most sitters and walkers offer a reduced rate for additional dogs. You’ll find these exact rates listed under the "Services" tab on any sitter's profile. Since every dog is unique, final pricing may vary depending on the level of care required.
