“Lauren did an absolutely wonderful job taking care of our beloved cat Mochi while me and my daughters were away on vacation. The daily updates were mandatory daily reading for us while we were away and the pictures assured us that he was well taken care of. Can't say enough good things about Lauren. She made my first time booking this kind of a service a breeze. We would definitely not hesitate is booking her again and hope that she is available when me and my daughters go on our next adventure. Thanks again Lauren for everything!!”

About: I’ve lived on a farm just about my entire life. I have taken care of many different kinds of animals like dogs, cats, birds, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, rats, and more. I also have experience with taking care of animals with medication needs. I just got a part time job, but it’s pretty flexible. Living on a farm, I am busy from time to time, but usually I have enough time for cuddles and playing! I can do just about anything you need depending on the temperament of your pet. I can play with them, crate them if needed, and give them any medications they might have.
“Britnany is amazing!! I’ve had to have a lot of time away and had a few super last minute bookings and modifications to the schedule. She’s been very understanding and has great communication. Will definitely be booking in the future !! 🐱”

About: I have been walking dogs for 3 years. The dog I currently walk is a Golden Retriever with a lot of energy! I have also walked other large dogs as well as small dogs. I currently walk a dog every morning Monday through Friday, and 2 small dogs as needed. We enjoy going for walks and to the dog park if requested. We have gone on car rides to different parks for walks as well as walking in the neighborhood. I love the time I get to spend with the dogs. Dog walking is what I do. Every day Monday through Friday I walk a Golden Retriever. After that I am open to taking on more walking or drop in visits. When going to clients homes I am always careful to be sure to lock up the home after our walk. I check to be sure that there is adequate water. I am respectful of others private space and leave things as I find them. I give treats if requested. On hot days we can keep walks shorter if requested. I will also brush your dog if you request this.

I grew up with two dogs and a cat, caring for them through all stages of life—including senior care and end-of-life comfort. I also have experience working with rescues my family adopted, which taught me patience and adaptability with animals of different backgrounds and temperaments. I’m confident working with puppies, senior pets, and those needing special attention, and I truly love and treat every animal as if they were my own. I currently have an open schedule, which allows me to be very flexible and fully dedicate time to pet care. I’m able to plan my days around the needs of the pets I’m caring for, making sure I’m available for feeding times, walks, play, and any special routines or requests. When caring for pets, I prioritize their safety, comfort, and routine. I follow all owner instructions for feeding, medication, and exercise, ensuring fresh water and a clean environment. Whether supervising play, going for walks, or offering companionship, I aim to reduce stress and make pets feel secure and well cared for in any setting.
“Lance was super friendly and when I booked for 3 drop-ins, I seriously only expected to see my cat hiding the whole time.....but to my surprise, on the third day, my timid boy came out of hiding for some pets, purring the whole time! I was ecstatic to hear that, since Apollo is slow to warm up to new people!”

About: I lived with 2 cats for a majority of my life. I have experience watching animals for family and friends, looking to meet new best friends. I am currently working full time and going to school part time to earn my master’s degree. Looking for a fun side job to keep life interesting. I am open to having the animals out in the open or crated when not around. Would love to have a yard to play with animals, but not opposed to going to local parks.

About: I've never had a dog before but I've always been drawn to them and plan to have one of my own in the future. I have dog sitted for some of my friends in the past and it allowed me to gain experience on caring for a pet without having one I work full time but I am available during the weekdays and weekends as needed. I can also stay overnight depending on the day! As long as it is communicated beforehand :) I don't currently have any pets but when I did, I was creative and quick witted to come up with safe, reliable ways to restrict my pet from going into a place they are not supposed to. For example, when I had a cat I used a very tall room divider to prevent my cat from going where he wasn't supposed to.

“Sydney was amazing with my kitty Ivy Dior ! I needed a last minute babysitter as my first one bailed on me and I needed someone to watch my pumpkin as I went out of town and at the last minute Sydney came through and saved the day ! She kept me up to date with how she was doing and stuck to my instructions I had let her know. What made me decide to stick with her was I called her and I could visually see and hear how eager she was to sit Ivy. I am def pleases 10/10 ?”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
