“We have three rescued dogs each with their little quirks and they can be a lot of work but a lot of fun. They love Lori. How great is that? All we want is the dogs to be safe and have a good time with their house sitter and with Lori we/they get both. Highly recommend her. She is wonderful and the dogs miss her when she leaves.”

“Kambree was absolutely amazing with my dog! Updates every day, handled a complicated med schedule, took great care of my house while staying there, and was incredibly kind and flexible. Thank you so much!”

“It was such a relief to have Aidan caring for my dogs at my house while I was gone on my 8 day vacation. My pups are 14 and 11 years old and have special dietary and medical needs and he was able to keep them well fed, medicated and happy! This was the first time in their whole lives that I didn't have friends or family available to watch them, but I didn't have to worry as Aidan sent pictures and kept me up to date on how things were going. If I am in this situation again Aidan will be the first person I reach out to!”

“Brayden did a great job. He was easy to communicate with, was familiar with our training collar, and was able to help when we made a very last minute trip. Our dog is relatively low-maintenance, but Brayden went above and beyond what we asked by taking him on walks in the evening when he was less likely to encounter other dogs (he is dog reactive). Thank you!”

“What an absolute pleasure it was to have our dogs loved and cared for while we traveled. Breyeanna gave us frequent updates and sent wonderful photos. Our dogs are not friendly with strangers and Breyeanna became family to them. We were thrilled with the outcome. Thank you so much for caring for our dogs.”

“This was a last minute booking that Tara was quick to respond to and set up a meet/greet for. I was very nervous to leave the dogs as we just recently rescued one with severe trauma/fear and another one healing from a recent surgery and still getting used to having his new brother in the house. I knew they needed someone very attentive and knowledgeable—Tara was just that and beyond! We had a slight issue that we did not anticipate with our rescue doggie and Tara was quick to inform us and navigate the issue to ensure both our dogs were happy and healthy in her care!”

“My rescue dog Jack loves Marcy. Everything was taken care of while I was gone. She kept in touch with me and gave me a video od Jack that made me smile. I will definitely call on her again.”

“The pets and house were well tended to. Our dog was really happy to see us and had the zoomies for about an hour. The cats are cats and didn't seem to care too much that we were home. We would love to have her watch our pets and house again in the future.”

“Randy was awesome with Mabel! He walked her endlessly so much so, when we came back, Mabel was so chill! Also, our flights were delayed twice and Randy spent extra time making sure Mabel wouldn’t be left alone having to potty for a long time. His care was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I also want to commend Randy for how he took care of the house. I have had sitters (not from Rover) who left the house in a shambles: unmade bed, stuff on the kitchen counters, etc, so that when you got home you had to tidy up before you could unpack. Randy had the house like when we left, or better. He was polite, kind, attentive to Mabel and just all around terrific. He is now my ‘go to’ guy! Thanks tons Randy!”

About: I have had dogs my whole life. I currently own a Catahoula Leopard dog and an Australian Cattle dog. I have been dog sitting since I was 14 and love taking care of/ walking dogs. I am currently a college student on summer break so I have a completely free schedule. I am free to walk or pet sit any time! I have a fenced in yard and two friendly dogs who are well socialized. My dogs are 4 and 1 years old and are medium sized dogs.

About: Hi! My name is Dayne, and I’m a 22 year old college football player with a lifelong love for animals. I’ve grown up around pets my entire life, and spending time with them has always been something I genuinely enjoy. Right now I have a German Shepherd and a Beagle, so I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and personalities. I actually trained my German Shepherd myself from the time he was a puppy, and seeing him grow into such a well behaved, obedient dog has been incredibly rewarding. That experience taught me a lot about patience, consistency, and understanding how every dog learns a little differently. Being a college athlete has also taught me the importance of being dependable, responsible, and sticking to a routine. Those are qualities I bring with me whenever I’m taking care of someone else’s pet. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, potty breaks, or just keeping your dog company while you’re away, I’ll make sure they’re getting the attention and care they deserve. I also have experience with more than just dogs. I grew up with an Umbrella Cockatoo that’s still part of my family’s life today, so I’m familiar with caring for birds. I also own a Bearded Dragon, which has given me experience caring for reptiles as well. I know leaving your pet with someone else can be stressful because they’re family. I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own, make sure they feel safe and comfortable, and always follow your care instructions. My goal is to give you peace of mind while you’re away, knowing your pet is in good hands. I’m a college football player, so all of my athletic commitments are done in the mornings. I also take all of my classes online, which gives me the rest of the day to fully focus on the dogs in my care. My schedule is very structured, and I’m home the majority of the day outside of morning workouts. My own dogs are properly exercised every single day. We go to the dog park, on long walks, and even hikes when the weather is nice. I make sure they are well run and mentally stimulated so they’re balanced and happy. They are fed twice a day with high quality dog food, and I stay consistent with their health needs. My German Shepherd gets joint supplements, and both my Shepherd and Beagle get salmon oil daily. I take their care seriously, and I would treat your dog the exact same way. Being an athlete, I’m already used to routine, discipline, and responsibility. That carries over into how I care for animals. Your dog won’t just be “watched” they’ll be exercised, cared for, and paid attention to. I live in a 1600 square foot home with plenty of space for dogs to move around comfortably. I have a large dog crate available if your dog is crate trained or needs their own quiet space. I also have two friendly, well socialized dogs who love to play and will keep your dog company. Safety is always my top priority. I’m experienced with large breeds and strong dogs, and I understand proper leash control, structure, and supervision. I keep a clean, organized home and always make sure dogs are monitored, comfortable, and secure. I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog with someone, and I don’t take that lightly.
“Julie took great care of our two dogs and our cat while we were away on vacation. She communicated frequently and it was stress free experience for us. She stayed at our house while we were away and only left the dogs for a couple hours at a time. It was great! Julie is very trustworthy. We will work with her again and highly recommend!”

“It’s always daunting having to find someone take care of your fur babies. I was so happy to have had Lilly be so helpful in keeping our girls safe, loved and well taken care of while we were away. Will definitely be using her to help us out again. Thanks Lilly! ??”

“Gracey is an excellent house and dog sitter! We have two senior dogs that need special care. Gracey was very attentive and followed my specific instructions making me feel at ease that our dogs were well taken care of. I recommend Gracey 100%!”
“Sauddi was absolutely amazing! It took no time at all for my 2 dogs to warm up to her. She is loving, kind and knows how to provide an exciting time for the dogs. She provided pictures and updates daily. She took excellent care of the house. We will certainly use her again. Highly recommend Sauddi.”

“Anika was wonderful! She provided great care for our dogs while we were away. Making sure to keep us updated right away. They clearly enjoyed their time with her and received lots of attention and love. She went above and beyond to help when we needed it, and we would gladly book with her again. Highly recommended!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rootstown walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rootstown maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rootstown choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rootstown. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
