“Kayla had excellent communication before, during, and at the end of our booking. She stayed in our home and watched our two dogs and they were super happy when we got home. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Besides excellent care for our old gal, Blue, a HUGE plus is that Kim left the house looking like I had just stepped out to grocery shop and came back an hour later. The only " footprint" she left was a happy pup! Thank you, Kim!!”

About: I am an animal lover for life! Starting as a teenager, I house sat for the neighbor and their poodle who suffered seizures. I continued to pet sit and have always had dogs and cats of my own. I'm currently looking for work, so I have plenty of time to spend with your pet. Whether it's a walk, play date or house sitting, I'm available! I'm unable to bring your pets to my home at this time. I am happy to pick your pet up from your home for walks or play dates. I am also available for house sitting opportunities where I am able to bring my dog too.
“Kristi did a great job again! She always sends timely updates and pictures which helps me know my doggies are doing well. She also makes sure my home is perfectly clean when I come home. I really appreciate her!”

“Katie dog sat for my 2 dogs for 2 nights in our home. She made sure my dog with a heart condition took her meds 4 times per day and took them for walks. She made sure they were fed and sent me messages on questions or comments she had. Our home was left in tact the way we left it. Thank you Katie for sitting with our dogs!”
“Chenaniah was great! She played a lot with our pup and made sure to send us photos. I would highly recommend her! Plus our house was so clean when we got home so that was awesome! 🩷”

“Madison was a phenomenal guest and house/dog sitter. She provided updates on Duncan and left us a great, detailed summary of events on the counter. She even did laundry, which was a bonus when we arrived home late! Thanks Madison!”

About: I’ve taken care of my own dog for years. As well as house sat for a friend who owns a farm, caring for her numerous animals. Hi! I currently work at 9 AM to 5 PM job and can make it home around 12 PM to 1 PM for a lunch break to take the dog to the bathroom and/or a walk. This would make it so the dog will go 4 hours between potty breaks. I have full availability on the weekends. I have a beautiful fenced in backyard with plenty of space for a dog to run around safely. We board dogs often and have puppy proofed it for safety.

About: Hello! I am an animal lover and always have been since I was little! I have a beautiful blue heeler/terrier mix who loves to go on hikes, jogs, and even paddleboarding! I will respect any and all boundaries but would love to take your pup out if needed to any place for some extra sunshine! But if that’s not an option I am also totally okay cuddling and being chill too! I am excited to take care of your dog and/or cat! I am currently working part time at dutch bros. So I work at max 6 hour shifts. Starting in late August I will be a full time student/athlete at the college of Idaho but I am still willing to fulfill what is needed! Just reach out and ask and I can make anything work. I will always listen to what I am told and be extremely cautious in a home that isn’t mine! I respect all boundaries of the owner and the dog.
“Tereza was a wonderful dog and house sitter. She was amazing with the dogs; they loved her from the Meet and Greet. She constantly sent us the cutest pictures. Tereza was also flexible with our schedule. We highly recommend her and would definitely hire her next time!”

“Sam stayed with our 2 energetic English springer Spaniel puppies for a week. Sha sent us pictures everyday and updates about their activities. Sha also responded quickly to texts as I had forgot to tell her a few things. We would recommend Samanta and will use her again.”

“Thank goodness we found Davalyn. We were worried we wouldn’t find anyone to replace our long term sitter due to our dog’s separation anxiety. Davalyn was happy to watch our dog in our home while we were out of town. Davalyn was detailed, communicative, trustworthy and kept the dog’s schedule. We came home to a happy dog and a well maintained house.”
“Cailin went above and beyond our expectations while taking care of our 2 dogs. They were loved and we didn't have to worry about anything while we were away. I cannot recommend her highly enough! We have found a perfect sitter with Cailin.”

About: I’ve raised dogs ever since I can remember. I care about them so deeply. I’ve raised dozens of litters of pups. I care about how they feel and if they feel safe. I want them to be comfortable with me. They’re so naturally caring and sweet; they deserve it back. I currently work every Thursday to dog sit. I am available Monday through Sunday, except for Thursday. I’m already use to caring for dogs so doing this would be great. It fits perfectly, it’s part of my everyday. I can easily crate dogs. I have trained mine to do so. I have a fenced yard and live in the countrysides. I feed my dogs every morning and night, varying on how much they ate that day. My dogs wear diapers, I change them multiple times a day. I care for my senior dog, two pups, and their mom.
“Wendy is the best and I highly recommend her! There’s a reason she has so many repeat customers because she takes great care of our furbabies and the house as well! She recently stayed with my two Frenchies and even stayed past the time she was supposed to leave because my flight coming home was delayed. She will always be my go to dog sitter!”

“Cassie was an amazing sitter for my pup. She was incredibly kind when I had to change the booking due to one of my dogs passing and she handled my grieving pup extremely well. Lots of pictures with a lovely update everyday to let me know how they were doing. I will definitely be booking with her again in the future! 100/10”

About: I grew up with cats and dogs. I was adopted by my first orange tabby in graduate school. Ever since I have committed myself to the comfort and care of fur babies in my own home. And, now, I would like to care for other people's fur babies. I can do the basics of food and water and clean after them. I can take dogs on walks. My schedule is flexible. I can pet sit from 5 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. I can work my schedule around your needs. I am here to support pet parents by taking the best care of their babies. I am aware that flexibility in times and days are critical. I can come to your home so you dog or cat can be cared for in their environment. I do not want your dog or cat to be stressed out. I have 4 cats of my own. I minimize their stress by keeping their environment consistent. I provide them with all the love I promised them when I adopted them.
“The absolute best. I was so nervous to leave my two pups for the first time, but Nikki and Britney made me feel so much better about it. From all of the update texts, to the numerous photos, I’m so grateful for their open communication with us. Our girls were well loved and taken care of! Our pups and us can’t wait to have them in puppy sit again!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 631 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Rookstool Corner. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rookstool Corner walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rookstool Corner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rookstool Corner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rookstool Corner. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
