“Amazing sitter! I was gone for the longest I’ve ever left my cats and they were so well cared for. I love coming home to happy cats. Lots of pictures and notes provided!”

About: I have had pets my entire life and love all kinds! I had to put my senior dog down recently and I miss having a buddy to walk with every morning, over lunch and in the evenings. Although I'm not ready to get another dog of my own, I would love to treat your best friend as my own. I work in an office full-time with a flexible schedule and walk in Washington Park over lunch every day - even in the snow! I can stop by for a care visit or a walk early in the mornings before work, over lunch and in the evenings. I have had many senior dogs and currently have 2 cats. I am experienced in giving medicine if needed. I also love to play with a puppy and help with light training! I currently work in an office by Washington Park and walk over lunch. I would love to have a buddy walk with me! I can do care visits and/or walks before work, over lunch and in the evenings. I have a flexible schedule. I am happy to come to your home and pick up your dog if they are ok with car rides and take to the park. I am also happy to walk them around your neighborhood or play with them in your yard.
About: I have had pets my whole life! I have experience with cats, dogs, horses, chickens, fish, frogs, turtles, and small furry critters such as hamsters and rabbits. I Have cared for new born puppies and kittens when the mother was not able and elderly pets that need a little extra love. Pets that are very energetic or relaxed. Pets that are having a hard time medically and need fluids or pain medications. I have cared for wounded animals and healthy ones. I'm available most days during work hours. When your fur baby needs love and care during the day while you are away. I can be there for pets, walks, snacks, medications, a simple check in and more. Every animal is it's own self and all need different care. When pet sitting while friends or family are at work or on trips I always make sure the pet has a good long session of play, affection, walk or forms of exercise, clean and full water and food dishes. Check for any accidents that need cleaned up or litter boxes that need tending. Then always be sure to double check the yard and home locks are secure before leaving.
“Found Jenna & Nikko last min to drop in and let my Marley out while I was working. They did a great job making sure he was taken care of. Great communication and photos. I had issue with my key code they even waited till it was resolved even tho it was past the book time and came and let him out! So greatful for them both and will book them again anytime!”

About: I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own and keep you updated with photos and messages along the way so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I’d love the opportunity to get to know your pets and become someone you can trust to care for them! 🐶🐱❤️ I work during the day and get off pretty early, so I’m looking for a fun excuse to get outside, get some steps in, and fill my pet fever by loving on other people’s pets! I’ve always loved animals and genuinely enjoy spending time with them, whether that means going for a walk, getting some playtime in, or just giving them some extra attention and companionship. I do have a cat of my own, but unfortunately he has made it very clear that he does NOT want to go on walks with me. So, I’d love to help give your pup the walks, attention, and care they deserve while you’re busy! I think any animal would keep me more company than the other way around! 🐾 I absolutely love animals and miss my childhood pups so much since moving away from my parents and not getting to see them as often. I’m excited to have the opportunity to give that same love and attention to your pets! I’m happy to provide whatever care each individual animal needs, following the routines, instructions, and preferences provided by their owner. Whether they need a good walk, some playtime, extra cuddles, or simply some company, I’d love to be there for them!
About: As a dog owner, I understand how important it is to have someone dependable and attentive caring for your pet. My own dog can be anxious, so I have experience recognizing canine body language, respecting a dog’s boundaries, and helping nervous dogs feel safe without forcing interaction. As a massage therapist, I am patient, calm, observant, and comfortable following detailed care instructions. I treat every dog as an individual and will provide reliable walks, plenty of attention, and updates so you can feel confident while you’re away. I am flexible and open to different schedules. Shoot me a message to see what we can arrange for you and your family to accommodate you appropriately. I provide pet care exclusively in my clients’ homes, where pets can remain comfortable in their familiar environment. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions regarding feeding, walks, bathroom breaks, playtime, and the pet’s usual routine. With the owner’s permission, I am also happy to take dogs to parks or on other outings suited to their personality and activity level. I prioritize safety by keeping doors secure, using leashes as directed, and respecting each animal’s boundaries. I also keep the home tidy and provide regular photos and updates so owners know their pets are safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

About: 🐾 Labor Day bookings are still available! 🐾 We’ve been hugging dogs since we were kids, and we’d love to hug yours! Penny, Ciel, and our family enjoy hosting furry friends - we take care of them and our pups play hard with them! Please note: *We cannot currently accept bookings for unneutered/intact male pups *We host a large, rambunctious group of pups throughout the week - small pups and those who prefer quiet, calm environments may not have an enjoyable experience here, and we will happily recommend sitters who may be a better fit for your family Hosting pups is our full-time job - your pups become part of our family while they’re here! We spend our days with our guests, playing and chatting with them, and can attend to everyone’s needs regularly throughout the day. Our 24/7 dedication to giving your pups the best experience while away from your home makes us a great choice for day care and socialization opportunities! We accept bookings between 7am and 7pm; we will consider bookings outside these hours on a case by case basis, potentially for an additional cost. Our availability for picking up and dropping off is limited but we aim to be as flexible as possible. Reach out with your needs and we’ll work out an arrangement that works best for all of us! Our entire yard is fenced in - there’s room to run full speed! We can adjust feeding schedules as needed to accommodate your dog’s diet. In good weather, pups are free to go inside and outside at their leisure. We don’t require pups to use crates while we’re gone or overnight, but if you prefer your pup be crated at any time, we’re happy to do that and have multiple available. Male pups will wear a belly band for the first 24 hours of their stay, at minimum - this soft, absorbent band fits around their belly and attaches with Velcro on their back. Belly bands reduce marking behavior, especially in unneutered males. You may bring your own, but we can supply them, free of charge. Using belly bands keeps our home calmer, cleaner, and fresher by eliminating marking behavior and reduces anxiety for future pups by giving them less reason to want to mark over the scent of previous pups. We have indoor and outdoor security cameras in many locations that can be helpful to review if any safety situations arise. The safety of all of our pups is very important to us! (They’re also great for catching fun footage!)
“Mary Ann did a great job for our first time with Rover. She was reliable, timely and did a great job with our cat, Pepe. Loved the pictures, the updates and overall, she filled all of our needs and expectations. So glad we found her!”

“Brooke did an excellent job taking care of my sweet pups while I was traveling! I got regular pics - they loved her daily walks and I felt secure that they were being well cared for! Already booked Brooke again for another visit!”

“Rebecca took wonderful care of our cat while we were on vacation. Twice a day visits that included love and attention in addition to the basic required care. Hope she's available when we need this service again.”

“Karen was absolutely amazing! Our kitty isn't a fan of people but Karen was patient and kind. By the last day, Fern even let Karen pet her. Karen also went above and beyond and sent lots of pictures. We will definitely have her back.”

“Shadia maintained timely communication with us which took away a lot of the anxiety of leaving our pets for a week. He took our dog out for a walk twice a day even though that was not a part of our request and provided additional help when we needed it. He also offered to help with other tasks even though we did not ask for it. I am happy we got we got the opportunity to work together and I would gladly work with him again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Riddle Hill
Great job! All instructions were followed and we received daily feedback and pictures! Laura went the extra mile to make sure I got pictures because the cats hide when strangers are in the house so Laura had to hunt to find the cats so she could take and send pictures! I will definitely use her again!
Derek is awesome! He took such great care of my cat Mittens. He was very communicative throughout the process, taking lots of pictures, sending updates, and checking in with questions as necessary. I felt Mittens was in good hands and I'd definitely book him again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
