“Nicole did a fantastic job of watching the pets while I was gone! She sent plenty of pictures, which was reassuring. She even kept my plants watered, which was a huge help. I’d highly recommend!”

“Valerie was incredible with our girl Maddie! She took such great care of her and we had such reassurance knowing she was in great hands. She spent time with her and loved on her and loved our girl! Thank you so much Valerie!”
“My dog is very nervous around new people, but CeCe was patient and let him come to her. She provided several updates and many photos during her stay at our house, which made us feel at ease. Our fur baby and house were well cared for, and I would not hesitate to book her again. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a new sitter.”

“Selena took care of our pup on short notice and did a great job! She made us feel super comfortable by meeting us/our dog a few times before we left for our trip. She sent photos every day and our usually shy pup warmed up pretty quickly!”

“Candace has been absolutely amazing with our dogs! We traveled from PA to the lake in VA for our daughter’s college graduation, and Candace from Rocky Mount met us there beforehand. Our dogs loved her right away and felt comfortable with her before we even left. The day before graduation, we had to head to NC, and Candace stayed with them—spending the whole day, overnight, and into the next day until we returned. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were happy and well cared for. I could tell they were relaxed and content when we got back. I highly recommend Candace to anyone looking for a reliable, loving dog sitter!”
“Amber did a great job. She was very communicative with us, sending pictures and messages throughout the weekend. Shadeaux seemed very relaxed and happy when we got home. We would definitely book her again!”

“Lexi was great with our pups! She sent us updates and made sure our pups were taken care of. Finn has epilepsy and she made sure he had his meds! Will definitely be booking with her again 🐶”

“Nick is always so great with the animals and a huge help! He's very friendly, goes above and beyond, and the animals enjoy spending time with him. If you're looking for a trustworthy and flexible petsitter - Nick is your guy!”

“Alyssa was amazing with Teddy! She took great care of him and our house while we were gone. This was one of our first times leaving our pup alone with someone for an extended period of time and I could not be more happy we chose Alyssa! She sent us updates and pictures, gave Teddy lots of love and just overall provided us with a sense of comfort and security while we were gone. I would recommend Alyssa to anyone that asked and we will be hiring her again in the future! Thanks Alyssa for taking such good care of Teddy!!”

“Taylor was great! My cat, Stanley, really seemed to connect with her and was his normal, happy self when I got home from a week-long vacation. Normally, he gets depressed and won’t eat while I’m gone but that wasn’t the case this time, it’s obvious Taylor gave him the TLC he needed while I was away since he is such a social and playful cat. I received daily updates and photos while I was away, and Taylor also left my apartment in great condition. I’ve already re-booked Taylor for another stay for an upcoming trip out of town and am so grateful to have found a sitter that my cat genuinely seems to enjoy! Definitely recommend!”

About: I’ve been pet sitting for over 10 years and have a lifelong love for animals. As a dog owner myself with two dogs at home, I understand how important it is to find someone who will care for your pets the same way you do. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Whether your pet loves long walks, playing fetch, cuddling on the couch, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I’m committed to making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m experienced with feeding schedules, administering basic medications, potty breaks, exercise, and providing plenty of attention and affection. I also know how reassuring it is to receive updates, so I’ll send photos and messages throughout your pet’s stay or visit to give you peace of mind. My goal is to create a fun, safe, and stress-free experience for both you and your pet. I treat every animal as if they were my own, and I can’t wait to meet your furry family members! I currently do work full time but I do create my own schedule and am pretty flexible so we can work around the hours needed for you and your pet! I do currently have two male dogs who are 8 and 9 years old. They both are very friendly and very playful. They play with puppies and older dogs very well and they’re very diverse with sizes of dogs who they are around. If your dog is aggressive to other male dogs, this won’t be a good fit for you. However, i’m happy to have an introduction to make sure everyone is comfortable. We tend to take a lot of walks and play ball in the yard throughout the day. During the summer we swim in the pop up pool we have for the boys and get the zooms out!
“Steve is awesome! We are always nervous about taking on new sitters for our quirky bunch but Steve made us and them feel at ease right away. During his stay he was super communicative, sending regular status updates and pictures. As a houseguest he was very respectful, keeping up with the mail and making sure to leave the place as he found it. We will definitely have Steve and/or Wanda back!”
About: I take care of pets for family when they need it and have experience caring for older pets, puppies, and those with special care instructions. My schedule is pretty flexible so I can take time to walk dogs during the day. I’m most available during the weekend and after 5 pm for over night boarding, but can potentially accommodate other schedules. I have no pets, so my home is perfect for less friendly pets. Crates will need to provided if they are needed for your pet, but I’m willing to keep up with their routine.
About: Hi! My name is Nidia 🙂I’m a dependable, caring cat lover who works remotely, so I’m able to give cats plenty of attention, companionship, and consistent care throughout the day. Whether your cat is playful, shy, or independent, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Regular updates, gentle care, and extra love always come free! 🐾 Pet care fits naturally into my lifestyle because I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and creating a calm, caring environment for them. Since I work remotely, I have the flexibility to provide consistent attention, playtime, feeding schedules, and companionship throughout the day. Caring for pets is something I truly enjoy, and it’s rewarding to help pet parents feel confident their pets are safe, comfortable, and well cared for while they’re away. When caring for dogs in their owner’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I provide feeding, fresh water, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention based on your dog’s needs and personality. I also make sure your home stays clean and respected while you’re away. Whether your dog is energetic, shy, or needs extra patience, I provide calm, dependable care to help them feel safe and comfortable in their familiar environment.
About: I’ve provided care for pets for quite a while, and I am looking forward to providing specific and detailed care based on owner preference to your beloved family member. I work part time currently and I’m very open to any pet care needs that my clients may have. I am looking forward to discussing this further with future clients. I have a yard at my home, I can create your dog or pet if needed, and am looking forward to finding out your specific pet care needs.
About: I’ve had dogs and cats around me for most of my life, from growing-up on a farm in Maryland to working large animal husbandry at the Virginia Tech Veterinary School to sharing a 1-bedroom studio with two cats in Roanoke City, and I’ve always loved all animals. All! Right now, I have one dog and three cats of my own, and they are very much part of my family. I’m comfortable caring for both dogs and cats with different personalities and needs. I enjoy walks, playtime, and just hanging out with them and giving them attention. I know how important it is to have someone you can trust with your pets when you’re away, and I’ll care for yours just like I care for my own. I’m currently in the process of my Pet-CPR/First Aid certification. I’m working a flexible schedule (as a Referee). When I’m at work, Nalini (my wife), will be there at home with your pet. So, your pet would never be there alone day or night. The most respect, care, compassion, and hugs!! There’s separate pet living spaces in my house for accommodating your pets needs, and we have a friendly and vaccinated dog.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Redwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Redwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Redwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Redwood. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
