“We’re so grateful we found Kalea. She stayed in our home and took amazing care of our two Labs while we were away over the 4th of July. She stuck to their routine, which really helped keep them calm and happy, especially during a stressful time. It was obvious they got tons of love and attention while we were gone. We came home to two very content pups! We’ll definitely be booking with her again — highly recommend!”

About: I was raised with dogs in the home ever since I was a little girl. I have never trained dogs that were younger than a year or two. I've taken my moms two golden retrievers for obedience trainings. Taught them how to sit, heel (which means walk with me and not in front of me), how to eat without aggression. Senior Care- My moms one golden retriever was 14 years old with hip pain. I used to help him stand up by have a towel or something that is soft and can wrap around his hips by lifting him up so he can walk outside to use the bathroom, etc. I can do early mornings before I have to be at work at 8am, and I am available anytime after 5pm. I work full time at Smucker Gardens from 8am-5pm. My job is flexible to an extent. I can also take a lunch break if you are in the area of Millersburg and take them on a walk or whatever you would like. My husband works from home, he is also a dog/cat loving person and would love to help (if your comfortable enough) if you are in the area of Herndon/Sunbury/Selinsgrove. Dogs- I would make sure that they are let out to use the bathroom, clean up the poop if inside and/or outside, play, feed, brush, bathe if needed, vet appt, etc. Cats- Clean up the litter, vacuum the area if needed (my cat for sure likes to make a mess), feed, play, brush, vet appt, etc. I unfortunately will not allow other pets in my home due to my husband only wanting our pets in our home.
“Sierra was great! I got lots of pictures and my pets were very well cared for! She went the extra mile to give me peace of mind during my trip. I came home to a clean house and my fur babies in great shape! I will definitely ask for her for future trips and highly recommend her to care for your babies!”

“This was our first time using Rover and Amanda was absolutely incredible caring for our 8 cats. She was so professional, respectful, loving, and nurturing of our fur kids and our home. We were deeply impressed and touched by her dedication and kindness to our babies, especially when several of them require medication twice daily. She handled all of them beautifully. We can’t recommend her highly enough.”

“I cannot recommend Blythe enough! She stayed at my home to watch my high-energy dog, and she handled him like an absolute pro. He can be a handful, but Blythe kept him exercised, entertained, and totally comfortable the entire time. She sent regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I came home to a happy and tired pup! If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and genuinely caring—book Blythe. She went above and beyond, and I’m so grateful to have found her!”

About: I have cared for my family's pets for over 30 years, I love meeting new animals and getting to know their personality! I have experience at every stage of a pet's life, from puppies and kittens to elder pets. I have experience administering mediation, caring to your pet's specific needs, assisting disabled pets, training puppies and crate training. I am dedicated to being a caring and thoughtful pet-sitter. I love animals and can't wait to meet your special friend! I currently have 1 dog and 2 cats. My dog, Zoey, is a 2-year-old puppy that I got at 12 weeks old, so my puppy training skills are fresh! I also have 2 cats, Archie and Theo, who are brother cats from the same litter. I've had them since they were kittens. Zoey grew up with the cats, so she is well trained with cats and she is very well behaved. Zoey and the cats get along with other animals very well. They are sweet, loving pets that play together and nap side-by-side. I work from home full time, so I am always at the house. I am very flexible to whatever your pet's routine is. Whatever they need, I can incorporate it into my day. At booking, I will provide a questionnaire and you can advise me of any needs or requests for your pet's routine, and I will make their routine a part of mine! In my home, I provide pets with several comfortable areas for them to lounge and sleep in, with bedding and blankets. I also provide several toys and chew toys that are usually left out for them to play with (unless requested not to). Meals are kept on schedule and any mediation or vitamins are administered on-time. Water is always filtered and clean, changed daily (or use a continuous running system). Safety is my top priority. I want to ensure that your pet has a safe and relaxing time during their stay, I will provide a separate room for your animal if needed or requested, with their own bedding and play-area. I have several rooms in the house that are not used, so I keep this space reserved for your pets. I will collect your vet information at booking and take your pet to their vet if necessary; I also am a member of the local Dauphin County Animal Hospital, which I can use if needed for emergencies. I will maintain communication with you and check-in daily with photos; I am also open to take any inquiries, if you would like to check-in on your pets.
About: Hello! I have always loved animals, and strive to treat all animals as if they were my own. I have grown up around cats and dogs, and currently have a cat, brand new puppy, a guinea pig, gerbils, and fish of my own. I currently work 50-60 hours a week, but most evenings, and weekends are available. I am willing to do drop-ins during my lunch or other breaks throughout my day. I would treat your animals as if they were my own. They will never be left outside unsupervised, and I will strive to keep them healthy and happy.

About: I’ve had considerable experience with cats and dogs — over 50 years of being around them — and I now share my home with three cats. I’m now starting to offer pet care as a way to earn money, and I’ll come to your place for drop-in visits, overnight stays, and house sitting. I’m also open to caring for other pets. I’m a calm, patient person, and animals really respond to that energy. When I arrive, I make enough noise so pets aren’t startled, then I spend a minute talking with them and reading how they’re feeling before feeding, litter breaks, potty breaks, or play — whatever they need at that moment. I’m comfortable giving shy pets the time they need to warm up. I don’t have much experience with special needs care, but I’m happy to handle meds or anxiety with a steady, reassuring approach. If a dog barks, I’ll soothe them with a calm voice; if they pull on the leash, I’ll pause until they settle; if a pet’s shy, I’ll let them come to me. My schedule is flexible and I can work around your dates, including weekends and holidays. People often tell me they appreciate my calm, thoughtful approach — it helps my pets feel safe and at ease. I’d love to meet your cat or dog! IMPORTANT- I am flexible. 😊 I will do my best to accommodate reasonable requests. We will discuss details when I come to meet your pet(s). My schedule is flexible since I’m retired. I can work around your schedule, or adjust my own to fit what your pet needs. I do have a couple evening meetings each month, and I’m busy on Sunday mornings. “This is a five star human being!!! my travels required me to leave before Dani was to arrive. There was some minor chaos when she arrived being a new venue and canine companion. Because I was traveling by air, I did not get to speak to her until after the fact… when we finally connected, she explained in full detail everything that transpired and that it had been handled and her and Rocky were enjoying a TV program!!! Dani is an extremely responsible, capable friend, friendly assistant! Rocky has already put in a request for her return !!!! Our home was in better organization than when I left!! Extremely awesome experience!!!”

“I cannot recommend Syd highly enough! She stayed at my home for two weeks while I was away and took amazing care of my Leo. From the moment I left, I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands. She kept me updated, gave Leo plenty of love, attention and care, and treated him like he was her own. Not only did she take wonderful care of Leo, but she also looked after the fish, watered my plants, and kept my house in great shape. Coming home to a happy dog and a well-cared-for home was such a relief. She went above and beyond in every way, and I would absolutely book her again. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and genuinely caring, Syd is the one!”

About: What sets me apart from other dog sitters is my 32 years of experience, beginning in my teenage years when I cared for neighbors’ dogs. As a dog owner myself, I hold myself to high standards and treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. Due to working in a school full time, I have the most availability in the summer and winter breaks. In addition, I am available evenings for drop ins and weekends for house sitting. At the present time, I am not offering boarding- but this is subject to change. My three year old golden retriever lives with me and is always eager to make new friends, ensuring a fun and social environment for your dog. Based in NEPA, I focus on providing personalized, loving care for each dog I look after. I look forward to hearing from you! If you choose house sitting, please note that I do need to bring my well behaved quiet golden retriever. I do have a travel dog crate I can bring to keep her confined for your peace of mind. As someone who loves pets and takes great pride in caring for my own, pet care is always a top priority in my daily routine. When it comes to your pet, it becomes my first obligation as well. I follow a strict feeding schedule for my one dog—once at 7 a.m. and again at 5 p.m; meanwhile, my other dog is a graze eater and has food in her dish 24/7. We also dedicate at least an hour to play, whether it’s fetching a ball, relaxing while watching TV, or playing with stuffed animals, sometimes more often than not a lot more than an hour. Rest assured, your pet will receive all the care and love they deserve! I prioritize a consistent schedule and routine for both my pets and client pets, which includes regular feeding, playtime, relaxation, and walks. Safety is my top priority, and I ensure that your pet is well cared for in a secure environment. In my home or yours, I have crates, multiple rooms, and gates available to provide space for pets to relax if they need some time alone or if they become too rambunctious. Rest assured, your pet will be safe, comfortable, and well attended to while in my care. I cultivate a more homey environment for my pets and dogs I watch, which sets me apart from kennel life.
About: I’ve been a dog owner my entire life and have had experience owning other pets such as geckos, cats, and snakes. I’ve been a pet sitter for a little over two years. My true passion for pet sitting comes from my desire to be accompanied by them, dogs specifically. I work with dogs of all ages, temperaments, and personalities. Dogs of all backgrounds tend to gravitate towards me and I have never had any negative interactions. While studying for my undergrad, I was actually in charge of all the live animal specimens present on the University grounds. Feeding, exercise, and handling/care were done daily, which can explain my comfortability and familiarity with pet care. I currently am home as I finish my masters degree online so my daily schedule is fairly free. I workout and do part-time contract work when I am not doing schoolwork. I’m extremely flexible and will be willing to meet your needs as best as possible. Simply put, I treat the pets like they are my own. I ensure they are met with sufficient attention, exercise, nutrition, and safety while under my supervision. Minimizing stress is my biggest concern (my dog has separation anxiety so I know how it can be). I’ve found it helpful in the past to use my own dog as a bridge between myself and the client’s pet, as his presence tends to build confidence and reassurance.

About: I volunteer at the SPCA walking dogs and caring for the cats. I'm a lover of all animals. I'm very clean and responsible and care for all animals as I would a family member. I'm currently working full-time, but I'm available after 4 and all weekends and holidays. I have a dog and fours cats of my own and this seems to work for them. They are very happy. I take my dog on long walks and provide him enrichment treats and toys. I always check when leaving to make sure that nothing is out he can hurt himself with. I'm also very strict on cleaning the cat boxes as I don't want them to get sick or smell up the house. I will clean up after your pets and I will make sure they are safe and happy.

FAQs for House Sitting - Red Cross
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 358 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Red Cross. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Red Cross walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Red Cross maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Red Cross choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Red Cross. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
