Wade was absolutely amazing with Rex! I had never left him with a sitter before and was extremely nervous, but Wade made the entire experience stress-free. He sent multiple updates and pictures, took Rex on long walks every day, and treated him like his own. I know Rex is going to miss him! He did incredible with him, and I could not be more grateful. I would give a million stars if I could!

About: Ever since I could remember I’ve grown up with large dogs. Since I was little we have had litters of huskies in our home. Fast forward and I currently have a Pittbull, Husky/Shepard Mix, 4 cats, and two Crested Geeckos. I am experienced with all life stages from the elderly to the potty training stage. I am comfortable administering any medication as well as taking long walks or playing to wear down the youngest. I work from home as a supervisor so I have the ability to come and go as I please. My son is engaged in some activities which may be the only reason for a turn down of service but my availability is pretty open. All of my animals in my home are well versed with this of the other kind. All of my animals are very dog/people friendly. We also have 4 cats so The dogs are well rounded and the cats are as well. If need be I do have the ability to separate any of them.

Ally stepped in last minute when our scheduled sitter got sick. The dogs were so comfortable with her and she made the situation a lot less stressful. She snuggled our pups, provided photo updates, and was able to stay with them late into the afternoon which helped us out tremendously. So grateful!

Scottdale, PA, 15683

About: I live in Scottdale but I’m very familiar with ALL surrounding areas. I’m a homemaker, so I’m available practically any time to come offer care to your furry (or not so furry!) loved ones! Currently we have 2 dogs, a purebred 32lb female Siberian Husky & a Designer Breed 15lb female Pomsky. They are both crate trained & house trained. Both are fully registered ESA (Emotional Support Animals) & I take that very seriously as to their training & how exactly I want them to behave. I recently lost my female German Shepherd; & a year prior my male Siberian Husky. My male Siberian was epileptic so I’m experienced in offering meds and know that having them on hand & on time IS A MUST for things of this nature! My shepherd was very elderly (about 14) & required a lot of extra love, care & attention also. So I am also compassionate about animals that need some extra loving. *I offer very basic kitty care. I cannot host cats in my home due to the prey drive of my husky, sometimes she’s ok with them, other times not. *I’ll do feedings for lizards as I have had a few bearded dragons myself as well so I’m knowledgeable here also. (But under no circumstances ask me to care for your snake, or your spider!) ***I offer potty breaks, walks, playtime, feed & water breaks, treat time, medication administration ALL in my standard fee. Anything else, just ask! I’m very flexible & willing to work out most things if we can come to an agreement suitable for both sides. Can’t wait to meet the furry parts of your family.🐾 Pretty much available whenever. I can usually work out something that’s suitable if I am not. Reach out with any questions! We can almost always work out an agreement. No fence but my yard is safe, multiple leashes, 2 porches, in a friendly community for walks. Small home but very lovable and friendly and cozy. My dogs are crate trained but good with other dogs, socialized, UTD on shots, but my girls are not spayed so if you have a male I allow ONLY altered ones at this time.

She kept our puppy entertained and played with in our home and yard while we were away for a 3 day trip. Highly recommend her and look forward to having her sit for us again!

About: I have 30 years of experience with boarding, pet sitting, dog walking working for vets and shelters. I've worked at Salons, Pet Stores, even a Pet Cemetery. I'm Currently working as a dog bather learning to become a dog groomer. I love animals and I adore working with dogs. I have 2 dogs and 4 rabbits I've lived in the Pittsburgh area my entire life. I have 30 years experience in pet care and my husband's family owns the only pet Cemetery in Westmoreland County. It's been in business for over 50 years. Im currently looking to take on a few clients (multiple pet families & senior/special needs pets/exotic pets) that require more of my time, training and attention. Some are just puppies lol Unfortunately, this app does not provide a description of your pet or what exactly you are looking for . If you think we would be a good match we can have a screening interview over the phone. And then I'd follow up with a meet and greet to do a hands-on assessment on your pet. And we could review the pet care needs and routine. My specialty is dogs with PTSD/behavior issues. I'm not afraid of aggressive or high maintenance dogs. Working with animals is my greatest passion. Currently available Tuesday-Saturday days, evenings and weekends. Works part time as a dog bather, working to become a dog groomer. Love spending my time w pets. Home/family setting doggie daycare/boarding & pet sitting centered around your pets specific needs. I have extensive experience in dog handling, belly rubs. Stocked up on treats, poop bags & puzzles for dogs & cats, I have a big comfy couch, 3 comfy chairs, a big picture window (nose prints encouraged) & fenced yard with a rabbit run.

About: I had numerous dogs growing up and currently have one of my own, Finley, a Goldendoodle; I adore looking after pets and others. Dogs of all energy levels are welcome as I have a large yard, great for playtime, and plenty of space to accommodate others. Plenty of experience with medicines and special needs animals, too. Routine is key with time management to make sure there adequate time for play and adventure. Every morning starts with a walk, and I typically take my own pet to the park twice a day. My home has an enclosed backyard with ample space to run around. When house/petsitting, I’ll always ensure pets are on a leash before exiting to run errands or go for a walk.

Laura did an AMAZING job taking care of my (multiple) pets while I was out of town for 5 days. It is clear that she is a true animal lover! She kept in touch with photos and updates throughout her stay at my home and went above and beyond in making sure they had plenty of attention and company while I was away. My dogs (and cats) loved having her around and they will be super excited to see her the next time I book her for sitting. 5 out of 5 stars!

Jennifer and John were such a blessing, on a seriously last minute booking! They were so responsive, made time in the less than 24 hour notice request to come over to meet our dogs. They were thorough in explaining the care they provide and very personable! As I was so nervous letting people I’d never met stay in our home they were reassuring and attentive to my multiple questions. While away, they sent many updates and pictures, again so reassuring to me! They also are so neat and tidy and took such good care of our home cleaning up after themselves, the dogs as well as washing the linens! Would absolutely recommend!! Thank you Jennifer and John!

FAQs for House Sitting - Rector

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 179 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Rector. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rector walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rector maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rector choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rector. On Rover:

  • 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
