We have been regular Rover customers for over 5 years, since our dog Sarge was only a few months old. Through the years we have interactions with many different sitter, and in that time we have established a very consistent pattern of what our dog behaves like with different sitters. Normally it is a very enjoyable experience, as our dog is very sociable and loves playing around with new dog friends while we are on vacation. Our experience with Rachel was the single worst Rover experience we have had to date. Rachel's profile at the time of our booking stated that dogs would have "free rein of the house and couches" which is normally what we look for. Our dog very easily settles in with the pack and is used to sleeping on a couch at night. We have never had a single issue in this regard until his first night with Rachel. She contacted us after his first night to say that he was barking and yelping all night. This is highly uncharacteristic for our dog, and to me was either a sign of being confined at night, or having some sort of distress. I asked her additional questions to find that she had tried to keep him in a kennel at night (not the couches as promised in her profile). She also noted that he had some stomach issues, which she said he had diarrhea and later reported he had passed two socks through his digestive system (and then later said three socks, so I'm not sure if she was making that up, recounting an additional sock, or just wasn't sure herself). If he really had ate and passed two or more socks (I'm assuming adult sized socks as there were no children in the house) I am incredibly relieved at least that there were no complications requiring medical intervention. The diarrhea is also highly unusual and indicated that he had eaten something under her care that did not agree with him. The second night she reported Sarge was doing much better and I thought things were on track and whatever misunderstandings the first night were water under the bridge. The third day she had sent a video of him playing around with a few of the other dogs in the backyard and everything looked to be back to normal and he appeared to be doing well. No updates on the 4th day. The 5th day she sent another video clip and again reported he was doing well. 6th day no update. 7th day a text to say all was well. 8th day no update. 9th day a text to coordinate his pickup time the following day. During that communication on the 9th day I asked how he was doing, almost rhetorically since it seemed after the initial rough start that the week had gone well, but she did not reply to that question. My wife picked him up on the 10th day and was informed they had been keeping him confined in the garage due to what they reported as humping behavior (Sarge is neutered). This had never been brought up in any of the text updates. Sarge looked emaciated when he was picked up, he had lost a significant amount of weight and did not look like he had eaten the entire week we were gone. This also was not mentioned in any updates. He had developed an apprehension in his demeanor that makes us think he was beaten or abused under Rachel's care. I know the dog can't talk, and I do not know for sure, but a pet owner knows their dog and this is far from his first experience with a sitter and this was all highly unusual and huge red flags.

This was our first time boarding our baby and we couldn’t be more impressed and happy with Rachel. She sent multiple pictures and videos while we were away to reassure us that she was in good hands. We will definitely be using her again if we ever need to board our princess. Thank you again Rachel for taking care of our baby.
