I can not say how much it meant to be able to have someone come over to take care of our senior dog. We were able to enjoy our daughter's wedding in Cannon Falls without being worried or distracted. Our grumpy old dog was better for Anna then he is for us.If you need a dog sitter, I recommend Anna you will not be disappointed.

About: I've been around dogs my entire life, both big and small! I've helped take care of my family dogs since I was 7, and been working with dogs beyond my family for 2 years. I have experience working with puppies, senior dogs, and dogs with disabilities. Your pup will never be wanting for affection! I'm working full-time during the week, so I am available for house sitting on weekends. I am available for dog walking and play dates during the weekday evenings and weekends. I can provide your fur baby with the bathing, brushing, medicating, exploring, and loving that they need to thrive. I have a small, friendly pup of my own who can play with your dog, and a car that can take them to the dog park if desired. Otherwise, I'm more than happy to provide them every comfort of their own home.

About: I work at Central Bark Rochester and have hours of volunteering, education, and hard work in canine care and training. My training and learning continues by the day. Im well versed in many different care/training practices and can adjust to each dog's individual needs well. Not only do I value the desires of pet parent's, but the feelings and consent of their furry friends. I work part time and have availability in the mornings, evenings, and weekends! Afternoons vary. I aim for longer sessions to fill the mornings and shorter in the evenings. I am willing to unlock/lock or enter codes to maintain home safety. I am comfortable crating dogs, keeping them seperate from other animals, and working with reactive individuals (see bottom for details). Nick is an awesome pet sitter! He and his wife, Mary Kate, took great care of our dogs and cats during a last minute weekend stay. Helo and Lupa loved spending time outside and playing fetch with them. They sent pictures and were quick to respond to texts. We’ve booked him again for another weekend so we highly recommend him and Mary Kate!

About: Hello! My name is Griffin and I'm 20 years old. I have owned dogs my entire life and I have two living with me along side a cat! I currently work at The Family Fido just outside of Stewartville. During my time there, I have worked with many different breeds and sizes of dogs while supervising group play! Not all of the dogs that stay with us are dog friendly so I have worked with solo dogs too! The Family Fido is a boarding/daycare/rescue facility so as part of my job I take care of feeding and medications. Since I started, we have had 5 litters of puppies that I have helped to raise before they have been adopted out to families. I have learned a lot of training skills and I will be attending dog conferences in the future to build my experience even more! Working at a boarding and rescue facility I work with dogs daily and for hours at a time. I own two dogs as well that I work with around the house daily! I am able to do walks, feeding, bathing, nail trims, play, and continue any training that your dog may currently be working on! I am also open to working with anxious or less confident dogs as well as handling more than one dog at a time!

About: Since the young age of 10 I was caring for pets all around my neighborhood. I've always adored animals and have two dogs of my own, one calm and one who requires lots of exercise, so I've got a wide range of pups in used to! I'm a reliable dog walker, willing to play, bathe, love and actually care about your pets the way you do. Im working part time right now which means i've got ample time to play with your pets! Im free almost any day of the week for boarding and walking up until August 10th in the evenings! Im willing to accommodate any living situation, no fence? No problem! I've got a leash and two legs. My pups get into everything if left alone so I'll be sure to always be present for anything your animal needs, and any extra support they may need.

About: My entire childhood my aunt who lived with us, bred toy poodles. So, caring for puppies to dogs is my specialty. From feeding to walks, snuggles and play, I do it all with love and care. Since having children, we have discussed fostering dogs and we found this would be the best way to love on some dogs and make an income as a stay-at-home mom of two. I am a stay-at-home mom, so we are available mostly all the time other than drop off and Pickup from school, and can move commitments around fairly easily. I have a fenced in yard, and two young children to run around and play with your fur baby, walk with them and help feed them. We live in a quiet neighborhood with a lot of running space along walking paths.

About: I've did a lot of pet-sitting for family growing up, so I have plenty of experience taking care of your furry friends! Fun fact: I even watched my cousin's flying squirrel once as a kid I work full time and am doing pet sitting/walking on the side. My work starts later than most people, so I am super available for morning walks! I am available everyday before 9 and after 6. On Thursdays and Sundays I am available all day :) I love to send updates and photos to pet parents throughout the day and I am super easy to reach over the phone if you need anything! I also like to give homes a small tidy up before I leave (free of charge) which would include removing pet hair, wiping down things down, and leaving the space better than I found it.

About: I have cared for many dogs over the years. I love taking our Mokes to meet other dogs and exercise areas to meet new pups! I am also comfortable administering medications, and have been a nurse for many years. I love taking our dog everywhere I go and your dog would be treated, just like my own! Throwing a ball and long walks are what every dog loves, so let me help you with your busy schedule! I’m currently working full time during the day, most weekdays. I am available evenings, on the weekends and most all holidays! I can be very flexible with last minute needs. I have one very friendly chocolate lab, that loves to have new playmates! I can also easily crate your pup, if that’s what you prefer. We love to take walks to the nearby park and play fetch. I also like to watch animals in their own environment if that is where they are most comfortable!

FAQs for House Sitting - Potsdam

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 182 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Potsdam. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Potsdam walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Potsdam maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Potsdam choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
