About: I have over 30 years of pet care experience, taking care of puppies and kittens through senior dogs and cats. I don’t have children and consider my pets my children! You will have no worries while you are away from them. I have been there and understand what it’s like to be away from my pets and worrying that the people that I asked to look after my pets won’t get there on time to let them out or will forget and not feed them or give them water or scoop their litter box. If you hire me you will not have that problem. You can relax on your vacation or on your business trip knowing that your fur babies are taken care of. I currently work as a merchandiser and have a flexible schedule and can arrange my schedule to include pet visits at any time of the day. I do not currently have a fenced in yard but plan on getting one so if you want me to keep them in my home, I will leash them and walk them.

About: *At this time I do not offer reoccurring services.* Looking for pet care services? Look no further! Whether you need boarding, drop-in visits, doggy day care, or dog walking, I've got you covered. When your furry friend is in my care, rest assured they'll receive the same love and attention they get at home. I'm a dog owner myself, with two adorable pups, Buttercup and Dallas. They're both fantastic companions - Dallas loves to play, while Buttercup enjoys lounging around. But most importantly, they have a knack for adapting to your dog's preferences. I understand that every dog is unique and may require different levels of patience and care. No worries, I'm here to accommodate their individual needs. Here's what you can expect from my pet care services: Accommodating Environment: I maintain a pet-friendly environment with two kennels, plenty of cozy blankets, extra dog bowls, toys, and more. Customized Care: My goal is to provide a tailored experience for your dog. I've cared for various breeds, ranging from 10 pounds to 100 pounds. Each dog is fed separately, unless they are siblings and you're comfortable with them sharing mealtime. Home-Based Care: I work from home, so I'm here for the majority of the day. In the rare instances when I need to step out, it's usually only for a few hours at a time. Here's what you can expect from my pet care services: 1. Toy Preferences: Please let me know if there are any specific toys your dog should stay away from to ensure their safety and enjoyment. 2. Furniture Access: Are your dogs allowed on the couch and bed? If not, I'll make sure to maintain those boundaries. 3. Sleeping Arrangements: Where does your dog typically sleep at night? Let me know so I can provide a comfortable sleeping space for them. 4. Home Alone: When you leave the house, do your dogs roam free or are they put away in a kennel? I'll follow your instructions to ensure their safety and security. 5. Feeding Schedule: Please provide a breakdown of your dog's food schedule and the recommended amount. If your pet requires medication, kindly share the details of their medication schedule. 6. Home Care Instructions: If I'm coming to your house to care for your pet, you can either leave instructions through the app or provide them at your home - whichever is more convenient for you.

About: Hi my name is Amber! I’m a stay at home mom. I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life. I have experience with dogs of different sizes and ages. After many years in childcare I have decided to be a stay at home mom and pursue dog sitting/walking because of my love for animals. I have recently lost my dog Nash. My pets have always been like family to me. I’ve also pet sat for a lot of family and friends when they’ve gone out of town. I couldn’t imagine my life not being surrounded by furry friends so, I can’t wait to meet you and your pet family! I’m currently a stay at home mom so I have plenty of time for your fur babies. I’m available seven days a week and I’m excited for all the dog walks! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I take the time to make sure they feel secure and cared for while they’re with me.

About: I've had animals of all kinds my entire life. I've had dogs of all sizes, cats of many kinds, guinea pigs, and even snakes. I've never met a pet I didn't love, and I'm known for unsocial animals warming up to me very quickly. I'm a huge animal lover and would love the opportunity to keep your fur baby company while you're away. I currently work full time in Nashville. Due to that, I have my availability turned off during the week. However, I am happy to to work together on evening visits for when I get home. I also have open availability during the weekend. My cat in my home gets the queen treatment, so I'd absolutely provide the same treatment for your fur baby. I provide all of the cuddles, pets, and play time to make for a happy pet.

About: I’ve owned and taken care of dogs for 50 years. I’ve taken care of up to seven dogs at once. I’ve had big and small dogs. All my dogs are adopted and some have had special needs. I’m retired, so I have plenty of time to play with your pups. I’m currently available to watch or board all week. I love taking dogs for walks. I have a fenced yard. Currently I don’t have any dogs but occasionally I watch my daughters dog. Even though I don’t have dogs I make sure all gates are closed and secured.

About: I have 4+ years of experience with many types of animals including dogs, cats, and even bunnies. I’m an animal lover who just wants to be surrounded by them as much as possible. I can train as I’ve had 3 dogs myself in which I’ve pretty much trained all 3. I am doing online school right now and have a bunch of free time to take care of the pets in need, but would prefer weekdays. I have a fenced yard with PLENTY of room. Very spacious living space where they can roam if wanted and just to have in general.

About: I love going on walks and hikes with dogs. My dog is a senior dog now at 12 years old and has hip issues. She doesn’t get to do that anymore. I know how much dogs love to walk. I recently retired a few months ago, so my schedule is pretty flexible to meet the needs of the clients. I have to be busy. I have a fenced in yard myself but I go out with my own dog. I will go out with your dog as well to ensure safety.

About: I have always had pets in the home. I have watched a lot of animals over the years & I even make sure the family comes back to a clean home. You wont even know I was there. I currently only work part time from 8 AM - 2 PM so there is plenty of time to play with the dogs/cats. I don't do much on the weekends so I would be at the house most of the time! I live with 2 dogs myself now & I love to cuddle with them & play. I currently do not watch dogs in my own home but would love to come to yours. This also helps so the dogs/cats are comfortable in their own space.

About: I have always had pets growing up as a child and my love for them has grown into my adulthood even more. I have a passion for learning and understanding all different types of animals. My experience in Pet Care is from having my own pets and caring for family, friends and volunteering over the years. I’ll have plenty of time to play with your pups! I’m available on for boarding on weekend, and weekdays after 9am to 7pm for starters and see how it goes… I'd love to help with pet-sitting! But I have three dogs of my own, so I'm unable to stay overnight. However, I'd be happy to do drop-in visits to check on your dogs anytime. I'm available for afternoon visits, or whatever works best for you. Let me know if you'd like me to come by for a visit!

About: I'm Keelan! Adopting my dog four years ago sparked a deep passion for animal behavior science. I love seeing dogs having fun being dogs. If your dog gets into trouble while you're away, they could likely benefit from some more mental enrichment! Sometimes just a walk around the block isn't sufficient to keep your dog mentally satisfied during the day. I ensure each visit is fulfilling by incorporating sniffy walks, puzzles, games, playtime, and your dog's favorite activities. I'm a part-time student, and I work part-time at a hotel. I'm flexible. My weekends are usually open, and I don't mind helping during holidays. • Dogs must have a sturdy harness or collar. I do not walk dogs on aversive equipment (prong collars, choke collars, shock/e-collars.) • I use standard non-retractable leashes for safety. 6ft-20ft long depending on the needs of the dog.

About: I’ve trained and taken care of many pets in the past and I love animals so much I figured it would be a great idea to pet sit for multiple people and pets. I understand that all pets have different personalities, just let me know and I will do whatever is needed to keep them comfortable and happy. I will care for your pet like it’s my own, I consider myself to be good with all types of pets. I’ll run around with them in the yard or if they like being lazy in the house, that’s okay too! I’m able to care for puppies, old, huge, little, sick, or hyper. I can’t wait to meet and care for your pets!! I am currently self employed so my schedule is very flexible! I will have plenty of time to care for your pups as much as you/they need! I have found that pups have less anxiety when they’re in their own home but I am more than willing to provide pet care in my home! Also I know pricing on here can be a little weird, we can discuss whatever is comfortable for you.

About: I grew up on a farm and I have taken care of many animals. I was raised to care for animals deeply! I would treat your animals how I would want my fur babies to be treated! I am currently in nursing school! I’m usually available on weekends, thursdays and fridays. My schedule changes consistently because of nursing school. Because of my schedule changing constantly, don’t be afraid to ask! I am able to provide loving care. I would walk your dog, feed, give medication, or even just provide support. I love animals of all kinds and just want to provide care and support to your fur babies!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 1,609 sitters on Rover offering Dog Walking across Portland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Portland. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance traveled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Portland.

Got specific details you'd like the dog walker to include? Message them in the app before your dog’s walk begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every walker on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Portland. On Rover:

  • 90% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
