About: A little about me…I absolutely love animals! I would be the person who will feed a stray and make sure it’s taken care of or potentially finds a home. I provide attentive care, including feeding, walks, playtime, and plenty of affection. I’m also comfortable following specific routines, administering basic medications if needed, and keeping owners updated with regular photos and messages for peace of mind. I treat every dog as if they were my own and strive to create a fun, stress-free experience for both pets and their owners. I would love the opportunity to care for your furry family member! I work full time so I’m available during evenings after 5:00 pm, if local I can work around it, and I am also available weekends. I am available all day on Saturday and Sunday. I have a fenced yard so your pet will always be safe with me. I will make sure to always protect your pet while with me.

About: I love dogs, they are more family than just animals. I have experience with small dogs and big dogs. I stay home to care for our litter of pups and the mom. I work remote, I am beginning a new job that gives me the flexibility to care for dogs. I also attend school online and that schedule is also flexible. I live by the water so when I take my dogs out sometimes I use a leash. I have a kennel to put them in if necessary.

About: Hello! My name is Leslie. I live in Victoria, Texas. I have many years of experience taking care of puppies and dogs of all different breeds. Starting in Junior High, I began taking Dog Sitting jobs. Anything I could do to help friends, family and neighbors with their FurBabies. I'm very proud to mention that Animal Care is my full time job! My fiancé/partner, Brian is retired and watches FurBabies full time with me. Brian also has 20 plus years experience with FurBabies. He is absolutely wonderful with all breeds and has 5 years German Passive and Schutzhund training as a previous business. We are fully competent and will not crate (unless absolutely necessary or requested) We also have a 10 year old FurBaby named Jobee. He is half Schnauzer and half Boston Terrier. He is very sweet, accomodating to other dogs, energetic and smart. We have a very flexible schedule and reliable transportation. We are very responsible, caring, organized, relaxed, energetic and friendly hosts. We adore Furbabies and care how they feel. We open our home to your Furbabies and treat them as our own family. Our schedule is always open barring natural or personal events, We currently have a Miniature Schnauzer mix, Jobee. He is very well trained, relaxed, and gets along with all Furbabies! Jobee has been in our home his whole life. Jobee will be just as thrilled as we are to have your FurBabies 🐾 around. We have a wood fenced large backyard, no hazards with bricks flush under fence line so no digging out can occur, preventing FurBaby escape. We bleach clean surfaces, spray back yard, bleach wash linens to stop viral and bacterial threats to keep your Furbabies in a safe and clean environment. Whether outside or inside, Furbabies are always watched. We have a roomy home with two dog rooms and use open living/dining room as common play area with furniture and full size mattress. You are free to tour our home. Anything like special diets, medicine, recent sickness (it is important we know this so we can monitor health) or other needs you feel we should know about your FurBabies, please tell us and will happily oblige. Projecting love, companionship, attention, ensuring the well-being, happiness and keeping a calm mental state environment to keep your FurBabies at ease is paramount to us. We also prefer to send photos and updates throughout your day so you have more peace of mind.

About: Howdy! I'm Emily, an experienced animal caregiver living in a rural Texas community. At home, I currently care for two dogs, a cat, and a flock of chickens, so looking after animals is already part of my everyday routine. As a pet parent myself, I know how important it is to trust the person you leave your pets with. My goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you're away - basically stepping in as the "mom while mom is away." Animals have their own personalities and routines, and I do my best to keep things familiar and stress-free for them. Whether that means playtime, a walk, sticking to feeding schedules, or just keeping them company, I'm happy to meet them where they're at. I'm calm, dependable, and not easily rattled. I take animal care seriously, and I understand that pets are family. You can expect clear communication, regular updates, and plenty of photos so you know your pets are doing well while you're gone. Since I already care for multiple animals at home, I'm comfortable with a variety of temperaments and needs. From energetic dogs and independent cats: If they need patience, routine, or just a little extra lovin', I'm happy to provide it! I am available for visits, drop-ins, and walks from 7 A.M. - 7 P.M. Weekdays (excluding Tuesdays) and Weekends. While I may leave between visits to tend to my own pets or other clients, I make sure your pets receive reliable care, attention, and updates during each visit! Your pet's safety and comfort are of utmost priority. I always follow the care instructions you leave for your pets so they can stick to the routine they're used to. Because I care for my own animals at home, I understand how important it is to be attentive and responsible when someone else is caring for your pets. I keep a close eye on behavior, surroundings, and anything that might affect their well-being. If I ever notice something unusual or have a question, I won't hesitate to reach out. I believe good communication is part of good pet care, and I'd rather check in than make assumptions. I like to balance fun and affection with attentiveness. Pets should feel relaxed and loved, but also safe and supervised!

About: I have been taking care of animals full-time through another app for the past three years. I have dozens of reviews I can share from that app. I love animals. I used to have my own cat and dogs when I was younger. I've also lived with people who have had pets. Even some people who had up to four cats and four dogs at a time. However, I promised myself that I wouldn't get my own animal again until I have a house of my own. Until that time, I look forward to giving your dear pets all the attention they deserve. I have many great reviews on the TrustedHousesitters app that I am happy to share with you. I look forward to being able to give you peace of mind about your animals. I know from first-hand experience with watching other people's animals, that pets usually prefer to stay in their home environment while their owners are away. So they will miss you, but this is the next best thing. :) I make my own schedule. I am very flexible. Possibly able to take last-minute requests. Please feel free to let me know what works best for you. The more communication the better. If possible, I prefer to meet you and your pet in person beforehand. To iron out any details and also so your pet will have met me.

FAQs for House Sitting - Port Lavaca

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 18 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Port Lavaca. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Port Lavaca walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Port Lavaca maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Port Lavaca choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
