Michelle made my family feel at ease about leaving our dog at home during our trip. She took excellent care of Rue and of our home while we were gone for a couple of days. We got daily pictures of Rue and we knew she was being loved on the whole time. I highly recommend Michelle!

About: Hi, I'm Jaela! I’m an elementary school teacher, and animals of all ages and sizes have been the absolute center of my world for as long as I can remember. I grew up on a farm surrounded by a wide variety of animals, which taught me from a very young age how to read animal body language, handle different temperaments, and provide compassionate, patient care. Throughout high school and college, I regularly watched and walked dogs and cats. I love house sitting because it allows your pets to stay completely relaxed in their own environment while maintaining their exact daily routines. I come from a family of veterinarians, so I grew up immersed in the world of animal health, safety, and care. As a full-time elementary school teacher, summer is my favorite time for pet care! Because I am on summer break, my schedule is completely wide open. Your pets get my undivided attention, structured routines, and endless love right at home.🏠❤️ As an educator, structure and safety are second nature to me. I focus on keeping your pet’s exact routine. I provide consistent feeding, fresh water, medication if needed, plenty of playtime, and lots of love. I treat your home with total respect, keeping it clean, secure, and tidy while sending you regular photo updates!📷🐾

I am skilled in basic obedience, positive reinforcement, recognizing discomfort, patience, and friendship I am a stay at home mom with 1 dog and 2 cats. I am with my pets all day long. My dog is my best friend in the whole world, my two cats are polar opposites of each other. The calm and the crazy lol. We make it work. About: I'm a lifelong animal lover with a deep passion for caring for pets. I've spent my whole life around animals and currently share my home with four wonderful cats and one happy dog. Growing up with pets taught me how to understand their needs, respect their boundaries, and provide the love and attention they deserve. I'm kind, compassionate, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, whether it's a long walk, a play session, or just quiet companionship. You can count on me to treat your pets like my own, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you're away. I’m currently working full-time Tuesday-Friday 8a-6p so, unfortunately, I don’t have availability throughout the weekdays. On the weekends/Monday’s, I’m available morning, afternoon, evening and night! I will always create a comfortable and loving environment for you pets when coming into your home. I’m unable to allow cats/dogs into my own home at the time!

We booked Sarah last minute, like the day before our trip! She was quick to come over to meet us and our two beagle boys and learn their daily routine and needs. She was gracious to not only dog sit but house sit for 6 nights, and 7 days. We even added an extra night last minute. Sarah took great care of our boys, and communicated by sending us messages and pictures daily. She even vacuumed the floors and washed their blankets during the week. The house was just as clean when we arrived home as it was the day we left. I recommend Sarah for anyone’s pet sitting needs. Thank you again Sarah for the peace of mind of knowing our babies were well taken care while we were away.

About: Quiet house, looking to share it from time to time with a four legged friend who needs attention while his/her parents are away. I work but can pop in and out for potty breaks. Have two teenage girls who adore animals and will spoil your pet rotten. Relax while you're away knowing that your special friend is well taken care of. Just be prepared that there may be some hesitation when you arrive for pick up. Whether it's an occasional sitter you need, someone to come to your home for an overnight or a fun walk once in awhile, I'm the one you need. Give me a call and we'll arrange for your little one to meet me for approval. We know that they know best.

About: I am available for in home pet care and house sitting, along with plant care, gardening, yard and pool maintenance. I have not completed any sits through Rover yet, but have been a pet sitter with TrustedHousesitters since 2018 and MindMyHouse since 2022. I am available for short and long term in home pet sits anywhere (but depends on where I’m traveling at that time). I am a snowbird and travel South Nov-April. I live in NE Indiana the rest of the year. If I happen to be in your area and don’t need to stay overnight in your home, I’m open to just stopping by and walking them. Just send me a message and we can figure it out. I’m also flexible with dog size and breed, but probably will decline sitting large breeds if we cannot do a meet and greet or they are not trained. I have sat for many senior pets, puppies, kittens and multiple animals at once. I prefer to sit for small-medium breeds, but will sit for large breeds if there’s only one and they are not difficult to walk. I bring over 30 years of experience in house/pet sitting. I have bonded with so many sweet pets (of all ages, sizes and breeds (please see my 5 star reviews under my photos). I have a flexible schedule and reliable transportation, therefore I have no trouble driving up to 16 hours to do a house sit, depending on where I am at the moment. I have extensive experience with gardening, plant care, and yard maintenance. I worked as a florist for 10 years and have always had a garden and eclectic selection of plants of my own. Finally, I love photography and will most likely send you lots of cute photos of your pets. I work remotely five days a week and am able to be around your pets throughout the day to ensure they have the love and attention that they need. I will care for your pet in your home and can stay up to 1-3 months if I’m traveling. If I happen to be in your area and don’t need to stay overnight in your home, I’m open to just stopping by and walking them. Just send me a message and we can figure it out. Please see my reviews from my pet sitting experience via TrustedHousesitters.

FAQs for House Sitting - Pleasant Lake

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 176 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Pleasant Lake. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pleasant Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pleasant Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pleasant Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
