Julie was amazing! She watched our dog and 2 cats over Labor Day weekend. She stayed at our house overnight for 2 nights and treated our pets like they were her own. She kept us updated on feeding them, walking the dog, and anything else that came up. She responded promptly anytime I messaged her. I would definitely book with Iulie again! She was fantastic!!

Our three dogs with very different needs can be a lot to manage (a rambunctious 18 month old, a five year old, and an elder dog in significant decline), and Adriana took great care of all of them simultaneously. She asks the right questions and communicates clearly and quickly to resolve anything that comes up. We could not be happier with how she works with us and cares for Maddie, Olaf, and Otter.

We have a 90 lb tornado dog who isn't able to go to kennel boarding nor can he be around other animals. He can also be A LOT around new people during introductions with excited jumping, mouthing, wiggling, etc.. We asked Macie if she could watch our big boy while we were away camping and she didn't hesitate! She came to do a meet with him before our trip to get to know our Ollie Bug, then stayed in our home with Ollie through the day and night during our trip! We got updates and pictures while we were away and came back to a very happy pup and a very clean home. We felt so comfortable with Macie both in our home and with our dog, and would absolutely have her watch our boy again!

While she was at my house I could tell that my dog was in great hands :) She had great updates and took great care of my house as well. Look forward to using her in the future! Thank you Alyssa!

Quinn took wonderful care of our two German Shepherds, Pablo and Leo, while we were away for the day. She was attentive, patient, and made sure they were happy, comfortable, and well looked after. It was obvious they were in great hands, which gave us real peace of mind. She kept us updated throughout the day with messages and photos. When we got home, Pablo and Leo were happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. Our house was also spotless, and everything was exactly as we left it. We would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for someone to care for their pets and home. We’ll definitely be booking her again. Thank you!

About: Hey there. I’m probably new to your town as I am an ICU Travel nurse. I dreamed of something like this app and now the dream has come true. I love dogs and cats. Owned them since I was 12. I love working towards earning their trust and bond. And they pretty much pick me as their favorite person in the household. When I would travel and have roommates, their cats and/or dogs would choose to sleep on my bed rather than their owners. The owners would appreciate me as their furry baby’s awesome uncle. The owner would have to lift the pet off my bed and lock them in their own room to sleep and cuddle with at night. I work well with furry babies because I understand and respect them. I have no ego. No agenda. Other than working mindfully towards creating a loving and playful bond. I’m very patient and respect the individual furry family member for their uniqueness. I understand Pavlovian conditioning and ethology. I don’t ever ever ever never hit or discipline pets ever. That is stupid and unproductive. Rewarding proper behavior with treats or pets is the way to go. Furry babies love me and choose me because I fulfill their needs and understand what they do and dont like. Cats dont like to be picked up or touched in vulnerable/threatening locations. So I don’t, even though of course I’d love to hold them and squeeze them with love in a selfish manner. I meet them and form relationships with them on their terms. Not my own selfish terms. I should add I don’t mind getting scratched or bit by cats or dogs. They can’t linguistically speak. So their biting and scratching is their way of communicating their needs. Needless to say, I’m relatively tech savy and will meet your needs as the owner too. Through updates, pics, and prompt communication. Peoples’ furry babies are sacred. I treat it as such. It would be an honor and a dream to participate in their lives, even if it is for a short time in a different city as a travel nurse. So if I’m around the neighborhood and free, it would be great to connect to you and your furry family member and be their cool uncle. Again. Travel nurse. Will update schedule. But it varies week to week. I may work days or nights. But I’ll update my schedule. And hopefully I’m available. As a travel nurse, I’m limited to walking pets and visiting other people’s homes. I used to do home infusions as a nurse. So I’m pretty comfortable entering a person’s temple and maintaining the sanctity of their homes. People and pets love me. It’s good to be me.

Amber was an amazing house and pet sitter! She is extremely conscientious and treats your home and pets as if they are hers. We have never returned from a trip with the house so clean and tidy, and with our pets so calm. We have two needy cats and an anxious dog who takes time getting to know new people, and within less than 24 hours, all three pets were so comfortable with Amber. She sent us photos and updates, and was easy to communicate with. Honestly the best Rover experience we have ever had!

About: Hello! Thank you for checking out my profile! I am a young adult who loves animals! I just recently started a job at a local animal hospital! I live on a farm with plenty of space for your dogs, and a big house for your cats! My go to activity is taking walks. I have had animals all my life and have a very big range of knowledge with them! I also feel comfortable with coming to you house and watching your loved ones! Feel free to message me to see how I can help you! I am currently working part time at a small vet hospital, but always have time to take your dog out or make sure your loved one has plenty of food and water! I have a big dog park in my area, I also love going on walks. My house is pretty big and will offer your dog a lot of room as they are a part of house and can go and roam as much as they would like!

Pam was amazing staying in our home with our Cece (Cavalier King Charles) overnight this weekend. We rarely leave Cece as she goes everywhere with us. Pam came for a meet and greet the week prior to our date, showed up a little early and that gave us time to go over anything either of us needed to, texted us pictures of Cece, and left the house tidy and locked up. Cece clearly loved Pam upon meeting her and was very excited when she returned the following week. Pam is a confident, professional, warm person and we will hopefully be able to have her back the next time we need Cece taken care of.

This was my first time ever leaving my dogs with a dog sitter and I was extremely nervous in doing so. Steph made the process so smooth for us & really gave us peace of mind. My pups were well taken care of & the house was left spotless. She sent frequent updates and pictures throughout the day without me even having to ask, I will definitely be using Steph’s services in the future again. Thank you steph!

About: I’ve been taking care of my own pets, as well as the pets of family and friends, for as long as I can remember. Animals have always brought joy to my life, and I love the positive impact they have on my mental health and overall well-being.My schedule is very flexible, which gives me plenty of time to provide attentive, reliable care and spend quality time with the pets I look after. I live in a spacious house with plenty of room for pets to play and relax. I also have a partially fenced backyard and a front yard where pets can enjoy supervised outdoor time. In addition, I live near several parks and green spaces that are perfect for walks and exploring, always with your pet’s safety as my top priority. I am currently unemployed but going to back grad school in policy studies at su so I will have pretty of time to devote to taking care of pets. I have a larger house with pets of rooms for animals to play around. I also have a semi fenced in backyard and front yard for out door activists. I also live next to many green spaces and places for animals to explore. Safely of course!

FAQs for House Sitting - Otisco

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 371 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Otisco. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Otisco walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Otisco maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Otisco choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Otisco. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
