“Lynn did an excellent job looking after our dogs while we were on a 7-day cruise for our honeymoon. The dogs were well cared for and happy when we returned. We appreciated the regular updates and photos. We would definitely use Lynn's services again and recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter.”

“Ashley did an awesome job watching our dogs while we were away. She was even able to pick up one of dogs who would normally be to scared to be picked up by a stranger. We will definitely be using her again.”

“This was our 1st use of Rover.com and anyone other than family taking care of our fur baby. The moment we met Caitlin, we knew our 14+ yr old kitty needing medication and attention would be in good, loving hands. We had Caitlin house sit to ensure the comfort and well-being of our Sockie. We highly recommend Caitlin and will call on her again.”

“Chelsie did absolutely amazing! She took amazing care of the house and left it in tip top shape. She kept us very updated on the animals and even helped water our plants! We will definitely use her again and would recommend her to everyone. She even gave us a beautiful copy of a drawing of our animals. You can tell she truely cares about the animals and they absolutely loved her! Would give 10 stars if I could.”

“Bridget did an amazing job with a very stubborn Pomsky! 💖 I would recommend her to anyone that wants exceptional pet care! Thank you so much! Love, Michele and Mia”

About: I've been an animal lover since I could walk, getting my first pet as a young child. Since then, my world has revolved around animals. As a self proclaimed "crazy cat lady" and "dog mom," I know the importance these bundles of fur bring to our lives. Most of my days revolve around the care of my own pets, including my indoor cats and dogs as well as the ferals/strays I care for in my neighborhood. I've cared for cats with diabetes, hyperthyroidism, aging pets, post-op animals, neonatal kittens and everything in between. I currently work full-time as a nurse but luckily, I have a remote job and get to work from home everyday! This means I spend all of my days surrounded by the comfort of my home AND my pets which makes me a great option in caring for their needs whenever they need me! Safety is my biggest priority as I know the dangers the outside world can pose on our special ones. At my home, all of my cats remain indoors and our backyard is fenced in for our dogs. I will honor any wishes my clients have within their home for the care of their pets and ensure safety and love are the top priorities your babies will receive under my care.
About: I've had my own dogs for my whole entire life. I know that dogs need their daily exercise, and attention to make sure they are satisfied. I have watched my families dogs for many years whenever they go on trips. I understand dogs needs and how much attention a dog may take. I currently have a free schedule. I am working on getting a part time summer job while I am home from college. As of right now I do not have one and I am availaible anytime. I can easily travel to homes to help take care of dogs or walk them. I understand how important it is for dogs to be let out fed and exercised. I will ensure dogs are safely let out to use the restroom and they are on a leash if they need to be walked to ensure the safety of the dog and others.
About: I helped train my mom’s 2 pit puppies and taught them tricks (shake, sit, etc.) I will love them like no other just like they’re my own! I am willing to spend majority of the week , every week, doing what I love most ! Whether that is having animal sleepovers , sightseeing , or just making sure they are fed and happy , I can always make time for you & your animals needs & wants . I have a kitten & a dog that just got out of their puppy stages ! I know what it’s like to have the mischievous zoomies ,the crazy jumping puppy kisses , and the leash pulling sniffers , but know how to handle it in a way that your animal will always be safe while with me .
About: I've had a dog ever since I can remember. I've watched all kinds of dogs for friends & neighbors. I truly love dogs more than humans. I'm a loving ,kind , tender hearted lady who wants to give your dogs a true safe and fun getaway. I work while I’m in Ohio but get a hour lunch and I’m not full time . While in Clearwater I don’t work there Jan, Feb, March. I can work around your schedule and routine . When just walking or leaving them outdoors I'm flexible, whatever you need and whatever is best for your fur babies! I would take your dog out on a leash when they need to go outdoors. I prefer not to crate ,my house is safe for pets, no live plants or danger. . I can come and leave them out and just walk them too.
“Elizabeth was a great pup sitter for Jazz and Sully, our 2 rescued Golden Retrievers. She kept us informed and sent photos, and during the meet and greet, we felt very comfortable leaving our "kids" and our home in her care. She left our house nice and clean, having done her dishes and vacuumed, and even changed and washed the bedding from the guest room where she slept. I recommend her highly and will definitely call her for future needs.”

About: I have hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of pets—dogs, cats, and small animals. From daily walks and feedings to administering medications and providing comfort, I’ve built trust with pets of all ages, breeds, and temperaments. I treat every pet like they’re my own. I take the time to learn their routine, understand their behavior, and make sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. I also keep owners updated with photos and messages, so you always feel connected. With school starting in August I will be available Thursday and any weekend. I will also be able to work with you during the weekday! When caring for pets in my client’s home, I do my best to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible—feeding them on schedule, giving plenty of love and attention, keeping their space clean, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable. I respect their environment and follow any specific instructions closely. While I don’t currently have a dog in my own home, that allows me to give your pet my full attention without distractions. My dog currently passed so we have an electric fence but that’s it! If your pet stays with me, they’ll have a clean, calm, pet-friendly space with lots of one-on-one care, playtime, and love. I’m all about making them feel at home—whether it’s their place or mine.
“Courtney is wonderful! She had her hands full with Ruby a one year old Lab and Daisy a 16 year old chihuahua. We got daily updates of them playing and possibly not missing us as much as we missed them. Courtney was great and we can travel again knowing our fur babies will be spoiled with Courtney!”

“Heaven-Leigh did a great job looking after my cat. I appreciated her excellent communication skills, and my house looked great when I arrived home. I will definitely invite her back to pet-sit.”

About: What sets me apart is heart-led care—personalized attention, reliable routines, and genuine love that makes every pet feel safe, happy, and at home. Rest assured your pet gets everything they deserve. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I structure my schedule around feeding, walks, playtime, and individualized attention, ensuring each pet receives consistent care, supervision, and affection throughout the day. I offer a large, fully fenced backyard for plenty of safe roaming, a calm pet-only home with no other free roaming animals or children, and a clean, non-smoking environment.
About: I have a pup of my own! I have worked at a boarding/daycare facility, feeding, letting out, and bathing dogs of all breeds and sizes, with the occasional cat, bunny, lizard, and even a parrot! I have also worked as a dog walker and sitter for a company in Kansas City, the best job i've ever had, but unfortunately had to move back home to Montana. My schedule included 30 minute walks, driving pups to dog parks and watching them play, staying overnight at clients' houses to care for their dogs (and sometimes cats) while they were away, and falling in love with all the pups that I was working with! I am currently available anytime I am needed! I'm very flexible and will be able to accommodate your requests, as I would like this to be a full time job!! I will treat your pet as if they were my own, lots of love and affection, as well as the high pitched voice they all love so much! I can follow your requests for their care, send lots of pictures and pupdates, and for walks, I will let you know when I arrive, and I have an app that shows where we walked and the exact time that I spent with your pup that I will screenshot and send to you at the end with the pupdate! My pupdates usually include whether they went potty or not, some little anecdotes from our time together, and lots of cute emojis🐾
“Brian was great with my dog! He sent me lots of pictures and updates which put my mind at ease! I was worried about leaving her with a stranger but the pictures of them playing and her chilling out let me enjoy my vacation. Will definitely be calling on Brian again.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Ontario
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Ontario on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 90 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ontario. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ontario walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ontario maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ontario choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
