About: Hey y’all! I took a break from pet sitting due to my full time job at the clinic but I’ll be back as of 6/5/26💜Animals have always been part of my life. As a teenager I used to do volunteer work with dog shelters/cat sanctuaries, and I currently have 3 years experience as a kennel technician/vet assistant in a clinic setting. As a stay at home parent/wife, I have a flexible schedule to focus on providing care and attention for your fur babies. (Pets with indoor crate/pen training are a plus in case I have to leave the home during the day at any point to ensure your pets safety) I have recently decided to start working from home, so i am able to provide quality time and attention for your pet while they are in my care. (My weekends are mostly open, but during the summer months we spend a lot of time on the lake/river, so it’s also a plus if you have a dog that loves the water. My dachshund would love a boating buddy!) I have a large, shaded fenced in yard where your pets can freely run and play. When your pets are in my care, they are treated the same as my own. My couch is their couch, and if they want to burrow under the covers or at the foot of the bed, mine will just have to scoot on over and make some extra room, haha. Above I mentioned that crate trained pets are a plus for any time during their stay I have to leave the house. My dachshund is a known chewer/scavenger, so she stays in a large indoor pen if I have to leave the house and it has become a safe space for her.

About: Hi! I am a Biology student in my mid-20s in the process of obtaining my second bachelor's degree and working toward a career in animal conservation. Caring for animals has always been more than just a job to me. I've loved animals my whole life. I've had/cared for dogs and cats for over ten years. I have been pet-sitting professionally for friends, family, and others for the past five years. I've cared for animals of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. Whether your dog is full of energy and loves to play, enjoys long walks, or is a little shy or anxious, I'm happy to adjust my care to fit what makes them feel most comfortable. I know every dog is different, and I enjoy getting to know their personality and routine. I'm experienced with overnight stays, drop-in visits, feeding schedules, administering medications, and caring for homes with multiple pets. I always do my best to keep your pet's routine as normal as possible while you're away because I know that consistency helps them feel safe and comfortable. I'll also send plenty of photos, videos, and updates so you can see how your pet is doing and have peace of mind while you're gone. My goal is to treat every dog like they're my own—with patience, love, and lots of attention. I know how much our pets mean to us, and I'd love the opportunity to care for yours. Pet sitting fits naturally into my schedule because it's my main focus outside of school. I'm a Biology student, so while I do have classes during the week, I have plenty of flexibility before and after class, as well as on weekends and holidays. I will keep my calendar updated if any changes occur. I love spending my free time with animals, whether that's going for walks, playing with energetic pets, or just keeping them company and making sure they feel comfortable while you're away. When caring for pets in a client's home, my goal is to keep their routine as normal as possible. I know pets are often most comfortable in their own environment, so I follow your instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, and any other special care they may need. I take the time to get to know each pet and adjust to their personality, whether they love to play, prefer quiet companionship, or need a little extra patience to feel comfortable. My priority is making sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away. I also treat every client's home with the same respect I would my own. I'll keep things clean, secure, and make sure your pet has everything they need. Throughout my visits or overnight stays, I'll send regular updates, photos, and videos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in good hands.

We knew as soon as we met Dalton that he was the perfect person to watch our babies. He took the best care of all our pets, even giving extra attention to our scared and needy babies. There was a thunderstorm while we were gone and he made sure to update us that they were medicated and comfortable. Dalton was excellent with updates and pictures at every visit. He took the time to clean before we got home and the house looked and smelled amazing. We will definitely be rebooking Dalton for our next trip.

About: We currently have 2 GSD. Our GSD are high energy and need daily walks, about 2 miles per day. We try to get them to the beach or play fetch 2ith them in the backyard daily. I was let go from my 9 to 5 back in August so I have plenty of time to take care and get to know your pets. Both of our GSDs love other dogs. Our Pug is a senior dog and is blind so he isn't concerned with other animals. He have over a half acre fenced in, so plenty of room for a dog to roam.

About: I have had dogs, sometimes multiple ones, all my life. I am an animal lover, and advocate, of all kinds of animals. I just lost my Maltese of 13 years old which traveled the world with me literally. I was only away from him for two nights his whole life, and that was bc he spent the night at the vets one night, and I spent the night at the hospital one night. He went everywhere with me. From restaurants to Walmart. If I went he went. I have no children, so he was my child. I will treat your baby with the same love, and care. I have a newly build house with an acre that is fenced in. So, if your dog is large and likes to run outside, it can. I also have a screened in back porch. You baby will be safe and loved in my home. I am retired and spend most of my time at home. So your dog will be supervised, as per hour request. I am flexible and will listen to the owners request, as much as possible. I have a fenced in acre of land. I also have a screen in back porch. If you have small dogs, they can run freely, and I would stay outside to watch them. If you have large dogs they can stay out all they want. Dogs love me! They know if you are of good character, or not.

About: Dogs have always been part of my life. I currently have three dogs of my own, and caring for them, exercise, routines, training is just my normal day to day.. I also work with Search and Rescue dogs, which has shaped how I handle animals: calm, observant, and structured without being harsh. I’m used to reading body language, managing high energy dogs, and keeping things safe in unfamiliar or distracting environments. I’ve completed animal first aid training, most recently within the last year, focused on working dogs, so I know what to look for when something feels off and how to respond if it does. Pet care is already part of my everyday life, so fitting it into my schedule feels natural. I’m usually available early mornings from 5:00–8:00 AM and evenings from 8:00–10:00 PM, which works great for walks, feedings, and check-ins before and after the day winds down. I’m also free all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so those days are ideal if your pet needs extra time, multiple visits, or longer walks. I like to keep things consistent and realistic so I can show up on time and give your pet my full attention. If your dog has a specific routine, I’m always open to seeing what I can make work. When caring for pets in my home or a client’s home, I focus on keeping things calm, clean, and consistent. I follow the pet’s usual routine, respect the space, and prioritize safety at all times. I pay close attention to behavior, comfort, and any changes that might signal stress or discomfort. My goal is for pets to feel secure and relaxed, not disrupted.

FAQs for House Sitting - Old Americus

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 181 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Old Americus. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Old Americus walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Old Americus maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Old Americus choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Old Americus. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
