“Crystal was awesome and the perfect sitter for my Eskie "Scooter". I could tell on our last minute "Meet and Greet" that she was really special and was likely the perfect fit for my dog and during his weekend stay, she kept me up to date on how he was doing and behaving since this was Scooter's first trial with a "Sitter" rather than the old traditional boarding where he always came home tired, hungry and somewhat dehydrated. Crystal went out of her way to make Scooter feel like he has a second home and as a result, I plan to book again with her several more times in the oncoming months. She was a straight up blessing for me and my little man who has gone through so much since losing his "Mama" in 2012. He was raised by us in his initial year during Covid not being around a lot of people and/or other dogs, and not being around kids although he's been such a good mannered dog. I highly recommend Crystal and know that your dog would be in good hands, thank you so much Crystal!”

“Samantha was amazing and so easy to work with! She responded so quickly to my messages and was always kind! Our Ellie (golden retriever) had the best time playing with Samantha’s golden Blair. We definitely recommend Samantha and look forward to booking with her in the future.”

“Kimmey is absolutely amazing! I was nervous with this being my first time away from my dog, but Kimmey made it easy to enjoy my time away with family knowing that my dog was receiving the best care. She frequently sent updates on how my dog was doing and took care to pay attention to my dog's individual enrichment interests and needs. My dog had a blast and she misses Kimmey and her wonderful family already! I highly recommend booking with her!”

“We left our labradoodle pup with her for 2 nights and she patiently loved him through his separation anxiety! We also failed to understand that most folks leave food for their fur family and she handled that for us as well with no complaint! Thx Torri!!”

“Patti was great! I was worried about leaving Cera at her young 8 month age. Evidenced by photo updates I received, she adjusted easily and had fun with other dogs. When I picked her up she seemed happy and well cared for. She didn’t skip a beat with her housebrokeness! Thank you Patti for loving our sweet girl over her first Christmas.”

“Amazing experience with Stephanie and her family. My dogs had so much fun, and were treated like family. They felt right at home immediately and didn’t want to leave at pickup. We definitely will be asking them to board again next time we leave town!”

“Carter did a great job with our baby girl! He kept her over the weekend for us and we would certainly book with him again. He sent us photos of her time on the farm & was very responsive to messages. Thanks Carter, Mabel had a blast with you!!”

About: Was a human nurse, now I'm a full time student. I have raised two children and I own dog and two cats, caring is in my nature. I am a furgrandma to two beautiful amazing dogs. I work M-F at an office job with flexibility. This allows me lots of freedom, my kids are 19, and 21 so no restrictions at home. I do work M-F, 8-5pm. I can leave work if need be to check on your pet more often then just the walk, and of course if I'm staying the night; I’ll be right over after work. I will follow your instructions to the T, as long as it's safe for the animal and me! I want your furbaby to feel as comfortable as possible.
About: I’ve always been around animals and naturally treat pets like family. I’m patient, attentive, and good at reading animal behavior, especially with nervous, energetic, or stubborn pets lol. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, so I try to keep them comfortable, safe, and stress-free while their owners are away. I’m dependable with feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, playtime, cleanup, and giving pets attention instead of just “checking in and leaving.” I also know how important communication is, so I make sure owners stay updated with messages and pictures. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I’m used to being active throughout the day and handling responsibilities that require consistency and attention. I can work around feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, medication reminders, and playtime. I understand pets need stability and patience, especially when their owners are away, so I make sure they get attention, exercise, and care instead of just being left alone. I also try to stay flexible for last-minute needs when possible. Cats have their own quiet, separate space where they can feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed without needing to interact with dogs unless they’re comfortable doing so. I understand cats usually do best with calm environments, patience, and giving them space to adjust at their own pace. 🐱
About: Animals have been a lifelong passion of mine. In addition to owning and caring for a variety of animals on my farm, I have experience rescuing and fostering dogs and cats, helping them transition into loving homes. As a homeschool mom of five, I am dependable, patient, and attentive to detail. Whether your pet needs exercise, companionship, medication, special feeding routines, or simply lots of love and attention, I will care for them as if they were my own. My goal is to give pet owners peace of mind knowing their animals are safe, happy, and well cared for while they're away. Caring for animals is already a major part of my daily life. I live on a small farm where I care for animals every day. As a homeschool mom, my schedule is flexible, allowing me to provide frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, feeding, and plenty of attention throughout the day. Pet care isn't something I squeeze into my schedule; it’s already part of my lifestyle, and I genuinely enjoy it. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have extensive experience caring for animals of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, including rescue and foster dogs. I carefully follow each pet's routine, feeding schedule, exercise needs, and any medication instructions provided by the owner. I live on a spacious farm with plenty of room for supervised outdoor time and exercise. I understand that every pet is different, and I take the time to help them feel secure, loved, and at home while you're away. I provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is receiving excellent care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Oakland home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Oakland.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Oakland sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
