“Tina was a fantastic sitter for our 10-year old pup! She is clearly a “dog person” at heart and set us at ease right away. Snowball settled in right away and acted confident and comfortable with Tina. She took him for walks and played with toys and sent us cute photos each day! It was evident Tina took excellent care of him! Tina was also quick to respond and communicated well throughout our booking. Will definitely book with Tina again!”

“We highly recommend Melanie and Randy. They welcomed Dean Martin and treated him like their own. Our flight home was cancelled and our arrival was almost 24 hours later than planned but Melanie and Randy were flexible and accommodated our request to extend Dean Martin's stay. It made a stressful travel situation less stressful knowing that Dean Martin was well loved and cared for. Thank you!”

“Brooke is the absolute best! I am very particular about who I leave my dog (Theo) with, particularly because of his small size and his separation anxiety. Brooke was phenomenal the entire week that we were on vacation and Theo was so happy. She took him on walks, played with him, let him take naps and snuggle with her, and she even worked on training to help with his anxiety. She even dropped him off for us after we'd been on the road all day. She sent regular updates, pictures, and videos, and he looked so happy every time and it was such a relief to not have to worry about him while we were away. Brooke absolutely goes above and beyond for her clients and I would highly recommend her to anyone! ♥️”

“It was obvious that Christine genuinely loves the dogs she looks after. She gave Gordon a no-rush meet-and-greet and let him get used to her house. She had lots of amenities for dogs, including toys and treats, and was careful to ask good questions about Gordon’s habits and preferences. Christine also gave daily updates including videos and photos, which really helped us realize how our little guy was fitting in. We would be happy to let Gordon stay with Christine again in the future!”

About: I’ve been around dogs most of my life. I currently have a Blue Great Dane named Diesel. He is great with other dogs, and we will have to do a meet and great to make sure you’re pup will get along with him also. I’m usually available unless the wife has me doing something. I spend every min I can with my dog and will show your dog the same treatment. My yard is unfenced for now, but it is 2 acres that’s at the end of a quiet neighborhood. We have plenty of room to play and go on walks.

About: Your pet's safety, comfort, and well-being are my top priorities. I have professional experience working as a dog handler with detection canines, which has given me hands-on experience with canine behavior, handling, safety, and maintaining a structured environment. I understand that every pet has a different personality, comfort level, and set of needs, and I take the time to provide appropriate care for each pet entrusted to me. Safety is always the priority for your pet, my family, other animals, and anyone interacting with your pet. I believe good boarding should provide owners with peace of mind knowing their pet is being cared for by someone who is attentive, responsible, and experienced around animals. Pets are housed in a secure, indoor, climate-controlled kennel area where they can remain comfortable regardless of the weather. They also have access to a fenced outdoor kennel area that provides additional space, fresh air, and shelter from the elements. I provide a clean, structured, and secure environment and will follow your pet's normal feeding schedule, medications, routines, and other care instructions as closely as possible. Whether you're away for a night, a weekend, or a longer trip, my goal is simple: keep your pet safe, comfortable, well cared for, and give you confidence that they're in capable hands while you're away. I work offsite during the day, but I have a strong and dependable family support system at home to ensure pets receive appropriate oversight and care throughout the day. I personally handle morning and evening care, including feeding, exercise, kennel care, and ensuring each pet’s individual needs and routine are being met. Our boarding kennel is separate from our family home, providing pets with their own dedicated, quiet, and controlled space. The indoor kennel area is climate controlled and provides access to a secure, fenced outdoor kennel area with shelter, allowing dogs to safely spend time outside when appropriate. While I am at work, trusted family members are available to provide supervision, potty breaks, feeding, exercise, or other care according to each pet’s needs. I remain responsible for their overall care and delegate daytime responsibilities with clear instructions. I also maintain video surveillance of the kennel areas, allowing me to monitor pets throughout the day even while I am offsite. My professional experience handling detection canines has made safety, structure, and responsible handling especially important to me. My goal is to provide a secure environment with consistent care while minimizing unnecessary interactions between boarded pets, our household, and other animals. Safety is the foundation of how I care for animals. My professional experience handling detection canines has taught me the importance of understanding canine behavior, maintaining secure environments, following established routines, and never taking unnecessary risks with an animal in my care. Our boarding kennel is separate from our family home, providing a dedicated and controlled environment for our guests. Dogs stay in a clean, climate-controlled indoor kennel with access to a secure, fenced outdoor kennel area with shelter. This setup allows me to control interactions and provide each dog with appropriate space rather than requiring unfamiliar pets to immediately integrate into a household environment. The kennel areas are also under video surveillance, allowing me to monitor pets when I am not physically present. My family provides additional daytime oversight and supervision while I personally remain responsible for each pet’s overall care. I take owner instructions seriously and want to know about your pet’s temperament, routines, triggers, medical needs, and any behavioral concerns before their stay. Honest communication helps me keep your pet, my family, and other animals safe. We are an animal-loving family with our own very well-loved barn cats, so responsible animal care is already part of our everyday life. My goal is to provide owners with peace of mind knowing their pet is staying in a safe, secure, structured, and caring environment.

“My family had a last minute crisis and Cathy came through for us. She boarded my 55 lb English Setter for 7 days, which is the technical name for it. In reality she loved my dog for 7 days. Sent me lots of pictures and made me feel completely at peace about leaving my dog with her. Cathy has a large German Shepard who got along fine with my baby girl (they were together in most of the pictures). I am a customer for life!!!!!”

About: For us, pet care isn't a hobby—it’s a lifestyle. We've been inseparable from animals since childhood, spending both our formative years training and exploring with our own trusted companions. That childhood passion evolved into a lifelong commitment; today, my husband (Micah) and I are known by friends and family as the "pet whisperers." We have a natural instinct for animal body language and an innate ability to make even the most nervous pups feel right at home. Why Choose Our Home? When your dog stays with us, they aren't just being watched—they are joining our family. We offer: Lifelong Expertise: Decades of experience handling various breeds, temperaments, and energy levels. Training-Focused Play: I’ve carried my love for training into adulthood, meaning I’m happy to reinforce your house rules or practice basic commands during our play sessions. The Power of Two: With both my husband and me dedicated to your pet’s care, there is always a lap available for cuddles and an extra set of eyes on the yard. One of the best parts of staying with us is the built-in social life! We are proud parents to three well-socialized dogs who truly love making new friends. Because our three have such distinct personalities, we’ve found that almost any visiting guest finds a "soulmate" in our pack. There's the gentle soul (Dom), the endless playmaker (Milo) and the sweet social butterfly (Izzy). We’ve seen it time and time again—no matter the temperament, at least one (and usually all three!) of our dogs will inevitably click with your fur baby. They provide great company during the morning hours, ensuring your pet feels like a member of the family from the moment they walk through the door. Whether your dog is a high-energy explorer or a senior who just wants to sniff the country air, we provide a structured, loving environment where they can thrive while you're away. Your dog will never feel alone here! In the early morning hours, they’ll have our three social pups to keep them company and burn off energy. From lunchtime onwards, Micah works from home, meaning there is a human on-site for the majority of the day to oversee potty breaks, backyard explorations, and afternoon naps. We’ve found this routine works wonders for dogs who love having a pack to hang out with while still getting plenty of one-on-one human attention. We’ve carefully introduced many guest dogs to our trio, and we always ensure everyone is comfortable and safe before leaving them to bond. We have room to keep your pet separate but comfortable if they prefer their own space. 2-Acre Nature Retreat with Fenced Yard & In-Ground Pool! We believe that a vacation should be stress-free for both you and your pet. Our home is designed to be a haven where safety meets serenity. Safety & Serenity: Our home sits on 2 acres of stunning natural beauty, featuring a fully fenced-in (chain link) backyard. It’s the perfect blend of high-energy zoomies and peaceful nature watching. Whether your dog wants to sprint across the grass or simply observe the local birds from the shade, they can do so in a completely secure, enclosed environment. As lifelong pet owners, we are hyper-aware of safety. We perform regular perimeter checks of our fencing and ensure all gates are double-latched. Trust Through Instinct: We don't just watch dogs; we understand them. Our natural instincts with animals allow us to read subtle body language, helping us prevent stress before it starts and ensuring all interactions between our pack and your pup are positive and balanced. Environment: Your dog will never be relegated to a garage or a kennel. They will have full access to our living space, comfortable rugs for napping, and constant climate control. We treat our guests exactly like we treat our own three—as members of the family. Peace of Mind for You We know how hard it is to leave your pup behind. To ensure you feel as relaxed as your dog, we provide: Frequent Updates: Photo and video check-ins so you can see the "zoomies" in action. Transparent Communication: We are always just a text away if you want to check in on their behavior, appetite, or mood. Vetted Companionship: Our three resident dogs are fully vaccinated, well-socialized, and expert hosts. In addition to our large fenced in yard, we feature a large in-ground pool for our water-loving guests! Supervised Splashing: For dogs who love the water, the pool offers a fantastic way to cool off and get some low-impact exercise. Whether it’s fetching a floating toy or just wading on the steps, it’s always a highlight of the stay. Safety First: We take pool safety very seriously. Access to the pool area is strictly supervised at all times. If your dog isn't a swimmer or you prefer they stay dry, we ensure the pool area is off-limits during their outdoor play sessions so they can focus on the grass and trails instead. Post-Swim Care: If your pup does take a dip, we’re happy to give them a quick freshwater rinse and a towel dry so they stay fresh and comfortable when they head back inside.

About: I have been pet sitting for about 5 years now! With lots of experience with senior dogs and animals in need of more attentive care! I am fully available to housesit along with pets! I work a wonky schedule but the animal or persons baby also comes first! I am fully available 7 days a week! I am much more able to give my upmost priority and attention when staying with the animal in their home. I am not able to host animals at the moment. Not until I move. If that was not going on I would absolutely be able to host.

About: I love animals with all my heart. I’ve never met a pet who hasn’t loved me. I agree with the statement that animals are very energy in tune and I’d like to think so am I! I’ve done lots of dog sitting and cat sitting jobs for people close to me and they’re satisfied with how I did, so you 100% will be too. Your pet is in responsible, attentive hands. I have a free schedule and I’m in desperate need of a side hustle. I have too much free time and I think this would be the perfect thing to book my schedule with, especially because of how much I love being outside and animals. I’m very mindful of the safety even of my own animals so your pet is in the best of hands. Although my yard is not fenced, I take my dog out for walks leashed and for the few times she has escaped, I’m not near any major roads for there to be any accidents or for her to be in harm’s way. I am very vigilant and I would never put your animals or my own at risk because pets are apart of the family and I’d never let anything happen to a family member, even yours.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

94% of sitters in Nomini can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Nomini home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Nomini.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Nomini. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

You and your Nomini sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Adding another pup to the pack? Most sitters and walkers offer a reduced rate for additional dogs. You’ll find these exact rates listed under the "Services" tab on any sitter's profile. Since every dog is unique, final pricing may vary depending on the level of care required.
