“Tricia sat our pups Bellah and Casper for 3 nights. Bellah is an unspayed female and she happened to come in heat just few days before our trip. Tricia put our minds at ease when I told her as she was absolutely ok with it. During the stay she was very communicative and shared regular updates about the pups. She was very attentive of the instructions and very respectful of our space. She would be sitting them again in some days and I bet in the future as well!”

“I cannot say enough good about the care my dog had with Tamara!!! He was so happy and relaxed when I got home! Her communication is fantastic and my house was spotless!!! Absolutely recommend!!”

About: Hi there! My spouse and I are lifelong dog lovers who have been surrounded by pups since childhood. Between the two of us, we've grown up with a wide range of dog breeds, sizes, and personalities. We have five dogs of our own, and we also volunteer as fosters for a local dog rescue. We’re comfortable caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments—from playful puppies to big couch-loving seniors. Whether your dog is active and energetic or prefers a quieter routine, we’re happy to accommodate their needs with love, patience, and plenty of attention. Our home is full of dog-friendly energy, and we treat every dog like family. You can feel confident knowing your pup will be in caring and capable hands while you're away! Whether we’re caring for our own pack or welcoming a guest pup, we maintain a calm, structured environment with lots of love and consistency. Because we’re already on a dog-focused schedule, it’s easy for us to adapt to each dog’s unique needs—whether that means early morning walks, medication reminders, or just extra snuggle time. When caring for dogs in their own home, we prioritize consistency and comfort. We maintain your dog’s normal schedule—feeding, walks, playtime, and any medications—so they feel secure and stress-free while you're away. We treat your home with the utmost respect and keep you updated with regular messages, photos, and notes so you always know how your dog is doing. In our home, your dog becomes part of the family. With five of our own friendly, well-socialized dogs and plenty of experience as fosters for a local rescue, we provide a warm, dog-savvy environment where pups feel safe, stimulated, and loved. We have a secure, dog-friendly home with space to play, lounge, and rest—whether your pup prefers fetch in the yard or a cozy nap on the couch. We follow your pet’s routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, medication (if needed), and preferred activities. We welcome all breeds and sizes, and we’re especially experienced with multi-dog dynamics. Whether your dog is social or needs more one-on-one attention, we adjust accordingly to ensure they’re comfortable and happy.
“Kara did a wonderful job watching our dog Luna in our home while we were out of town. She was very responsive, sending us daily updates and photos which we loved! And she went above and beyond to make Luna feel comfortable during some over night storms that came through. We will definitely be hiring her again in the future!”

About: I grew up in a small town with horses, dogs, and cats. I have been an animal lover since I was just a little girl. My Aunt had a kenneling facility that I helped with throughout the years and growing up. It was more like a little staycation for furry friends while families traveled for various reasons. Customers always came back relieved because they knew that their pets were in great hands. My responsibilities included keeping the living space sanitary and comfortable, feeding, watering, cleaning, exercising, and monitoring the animals' health and behavior, and obviously a lot of added love and play time! I dog sit for a few people (friends/family) here in and stay at their homes when they are gone and love it so much, I decided to check out Rover! I am hardworking, kind, compassionate, and trustworthy. Whether you kennel your dog or prefer not to I am your go-to girl when it comes to any of these needs! However, I will care for your loved one/ones following your instructions, feeding, providing fresh water, exercising, administering medication if needed, and cleaning up after him/her. I will also maintain the home's cleanliness and security and keep you updated on your furry friend/friends' status.

About: I grew up on an acreage in the country and have been surrounded by animals my entire life, from chickens to horses. I’ve always had multiple dogs and cats, and my home was often the place neighbors brought stray or abandoned animals. Many of our pets were adopted from shelters or rescued, which helped build my passion for animal care from a young age. I’ve also helped care for stray cats and participated in TNR (trap-neuter-return) efforts, so I’m very comfortable working with animals of all backgrounds and temperaments. I’m a huge animal lover and advocate, and caring for animals is something I truly enjoy. Currently, I work part-time at Dogger Bark Club, a dog daycare and boarding facility, and at Vintage Heights Veterinary Hospital as a kennel attendant. These roles have given me hands-on experience with dogs and cats in both everyday care and more structured environments. I’m currently in college studying Companion Animal Science with a minor in Business, and I’m passionate about building a career working with animals. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and pet sitting, and I’m trained in administering medications if needed. With my experience in both a veterinary setting and a daycare environment, I’m confident handling pets of all personalities and needs. I prioritize safety, follow routines closely, and always send updates and photos so you feel at ease. I treat every pet like my own and truly love what I do. I’m currently in college and keep a well-organized schedule, so I only take on bookings I can fully commit to and give your pet my full attention. My availability will also be more open during the summer. I have a flexible but organized schedule and make sure I only accept bookings I can fully commit to. I’m available most evening weekdays and weekends typically anytime. I am still in school but with increased availability during the summer I will be more open! Your pet’s safety and well-being are always my top priority. I take the time to follow your pet’s routine closely, including feeding schedules, exercise, medications, and any specific instructions you provide. I understand how important consistency is, especially for reducing stress. With my experience working in both a veterinary hospital and a dog daycare/boarding facility, I’m trained to recognize signs of stress, illness, or discomfort and respond appropriately. I’m comfortable administering medications if needed and handling pets of all temperaments safely. I make sure pets are always in a secure environment, whether that means properly leashing dogs, monitoring interactions, or keeping a close eye on their surroundings. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident and at ease while you’re away. Most importantly, I treat every pet like my own—with patience, attention, and genuine care.

FAQs for House Sitting - Nickerson
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 334 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Nickerson. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Nickerson walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Nickerson maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Nickerson choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Nickerson. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 90% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
