“Kyra was an excellent sitter. Bandit, Wendy, Luci and Ash absolutely loved her. She sent pictures of them to us every day and they looked as happy as could be! I would highly recommend Kyra as a pet/house sitter! If you want a worry free vacation for you and your fur babies, contact Kyra!”
“Sarah made sure that all of our pets were taken care of and received tons of love and attention while we were away. She is also experienced with caring for rabbits so I knew that our bunny was in good hands and would be able to exercise his legs. I highly recommend her and will be booking her for future pet sitting needs!”

“For the first time ever, our cat wasn't traumatized by our vacation so Khadijah has my high recommendation! She kept trying to make friends with our antisocial kitty, took good care of him, our bird feeding, our plants and our home. She reported daily with photos which I really appreciated. She's responsible and caring and I'm grateful to her!”

“We couldn't be happier with the way Eren and Luca cared for our two young cats while we were away! They gave them so much love and attention, and were very patient with our skittish kitty, monitoring him carefully to make sure he was getting enough food when he was too anxious to eat at regular mealtimes. They were great about checking in and sent us lots of video and photo updates, making it easy for us to relax during our trip in the confidence that our cats were being well taken care of. They followed our instructions carefully and left our house just as they found it. We highly recommend them!”

“Amelia was fantastic and my dogs loved her. She sent lots of pictures and videos while we were away . Would definitely recommend her. I feel like she’s a friends because we kept in such contact with dig updates :-)”

“Absolutely wonderful! This was our first stay with her and already booked her to watch our dogs again in the future. She put us at ease with leaving her with our anxious girl but she gave them both so much love. Great at communicating and sending updates/photos!”

“Madeleine was wonderful! She was responsive from the very first communication. She genuinely connected with our dog immediately and kept us informed and updated with pictures while we were on vacation. We look forward to having her care for our Zoey in the future. She is a gem.”

I treat every home with care and every pet like family, creating a calm, safe, and positive experience from start to finish.
“Kyle really came through for my girls and I in a pinch. Their regular sitter was not available for a weekend beach trip I had planned and we put our trust in another awesome human. He showed up for a meet and greet and my spicy, anxious ridden rescue took to him fairly quickly. We were all happy he was able to stay overnight. My girls usually dont do well with being left alone more than one night. I had updates when I needed and I came home to my place the way I left it. Would definitely use Kyle again.”

About: I’ve been dog sitting for 4 years and have been around all kinds of dogs my whole life. I’m experienced with different temperaments, routines, and care needs, and I always provide patient, attentive care. I mainly have experience with older dogs (1 year to senior) and don’t shy away from the many needs dogs require in their twilight years. I primarily have been dog sitting for a close friend with two beagle mixes and can tell you they gave me enough experience to be able to handle the high energy and stubbornness that comes with their breed. I’m a huge animal lover so it’s all worth it in the end when our furry friends are happy and thriving! I work a full time job 3:30 to midnight so my hours of availability are mornings until 2PM and I have off on weekends so I have plenty of time to play with your pups on those days. I take the time to double check with pet parents booking with me to see if my schedule works for them so I can make sure I am the best fit for you and your pets! I take great care in respecting the homes of pets and owners when I’m providing care. I strive to prevent messes when possible and make sure pets are fed, watered and their spaces are well maintained and home owners spaces are left the same or better than when they departed.
“Lauren is amazing! She watched our 16 week old golden retriever puppy! She was able to stay on top of his high energy, feed him, and make sure he was goi g potty! She communicated with us really well! Highly recommend her☺️”

I have three dogs of my own: • Riley – a 12-year-old Beagle (I help manage her lymphoma medication) • Penelope – an 8-year-old Aussie mix (I cared for her after recent knee surgery) • Nyx – a 3-year-old Border Collie mix (I help manage his separation anxiety) I work full time during the week , but am available on the weekends for drop in visits and walks. Day of requests are welcome! I may be available for some weekday drop ins after 5pm if you live near by , so feel free to message me! I am happy to care for your pets as instructed. I am certified in Cat and Dog first aid, and have experience administering medication if needed.
“Michelle was awesome! Our fur babies loved her! She let us know when she arrived and gave them lots of love. She sent us pictures and updates of our guys. She was great and we plan on using her again.”
About: Im currently a Certified Veterinary Technician. I take care of animals every day with love and compassion. I’m excited to take care of animals in a more fun setting with everyone in our community. I work full time. Pet care would be part time. I’d like to treat the pet sitting similar to most scheduled people who have pets. Typically I would attend my day job and afterwords spend all of the time with your beloved pets. Arriving directly to your pet and making sure they are taken care of. Food, water, potty, ect. I’ve cared for pets in my home by allowing them the leisure of napping, play time, and potty breaks when it’s time . I like to allow pets to just be themselves. I like to also make sure they are monitored when I am present. For dogs during a house sitting I recommend a crate or special area your pet can be that is safe. I usually house sit at the same time as working my day job. During those times your pet will be alone and will need a safe area to be if I am not currently present.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in New Jerusalem on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 1,385 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Jerusalem. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Jerusalem walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Jerusalem maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Jerusalem choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
