“Abby was amazing! I’m super happy with our experience working with her. We took a prolonged trip and had the help of Abby to take care of our cat. She sent us photos and thorough report cards. She also helped keep our indoor plants alive and this was a nice relief knowing my plants would get watered. My cat LOVES her, you could tell she was in heaven and all over Abby everytime she came for the visits, she did an amazing job giving our cat attention and loving her. Anyway, she was very responsive, professional, and did great with the animal care. Thanks Abby! I will be using her again and also would highly recommend her!”

“Connally was a TRUE professional agreeing to help us out with our 2 fearful dogs. Marty (barks & protective) and Mindy (whiny & hides) can take a long time to adapt to new people, but Connally won them over with her calm & consistent visits. Her positive reassurance helped my pups get comfortable with her quickly, and that is worth GOLD in my book. So very grateful to have found a reliable & knowledgeable sitter for my “special” doggies.”

“dayton took such great care of our two kittens! she was very accommodating with booking changes, initiated a meet and greet, was communicative and left thoughtful updates with pictures. we would definitely book her again in the future :)”
“We cannot recommend Toni enough! She was so great with our dogs and her communication was amazing. She texted pictures and updated us throughout her visits and we would 100% trust her to take care of our pups again. Looking forward to booking with Toni in the future!”

About: Your fur baby will have a blast with our pack! Winnie, Tater and Goose are the ultimate pals. We will be sure to keep your pup entertained and a great way to get exercise and affection while you’re away! If you have an older dog, I can offer one on one snuggle time and a calm relaxing environment separate from the other pups. We have 2 acres and enjoy outside playtime. We frequent the dog park in Louisa and hiking trails from Richmond to Charlottesville. Common treats are homemade chicken jerky and sardines. Please let me know if your pup is not on a tick preventative. We treat our yard with a dog safe spray but enjoy recreational activities away from home and would like to be extra cautious for your fur baby. I have full weekday and have full weekend availability! We enjoy going on walks in our neighborhood or the park close by early in the morning and late at night before it gets too hot. Depending on your pup’s age, younger ones will have tater and goose to play with. Older/calmer pups will stay with Winnie and I in a separated part of the house. I will care for your pup however you feel they will do the best (:

About: I’ve taken care of family pets since I was 9! I’ve had two dogs in the past, and currently have 6 cats in my household. I can administer all kinds of medication, and have a past in diabetic care with insulin needles, and oral, liquid medications, and ointment. I understand putting your trust in sitters with your babies is difficult, but I ensure that I will do my very best to love and care for them all I can! 🐾🐾 I’m currently out of work, and between high school and college, so I have plenty of time to take care of animals. I also have a car, so I can make trips to the store or vet clinic if necessary. “Victoria did a wonderful job caring for my two adult male cats and ~8 week old kitten for about 5 days. She was patient and has a keen attention to detail, especially with my helicopter-parent semi-neurotic novel of a instructions write-up. Overall, Victoria did an exceptional job caring for my furry children and I would seek her services again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much, Victoria!!! 🤗”

“Beth was great! She responded to my request quickly, arrived for a meet and greet on time, and communicated with me consistently. After a very long day, I came home to a happy and relaxed pup.”

About: Hi! I’m Vanessa, and I’ve spent over a year working hands-on at a professional dog daycare and boarding facility here in Orange. That means I’m used to caring for dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels — from bouncy puppies to mellow seniors. I’m currently offering dog walks and drop-in visits only. Whether your pup needs a quick potty break, a structured walk, or just some loving company while you’re away, I bring the same reliability and safety focus I use at the daycare. I also love adding enrichment — things like sniff-walks, interactive games, or even “report card” style updates so you know how their day went. I’m currently working a part-time job and my hours differ week to week. Some days it’s 7 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. and other days it’ll be from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m! Mondays are my busiest day of the week, so I can’t fit much into that day, but you can always still message me and I can see what I can do! In a client’s home, I always follow your pup’s normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure. For drop-in visits, that might include letting them out for a potty break, refreshing food and water, giving medications if needed, and spending quality time playing, cuddling, or just keeping them company. I make sure to leave everything tidy and send photo updates so you know how your pet is doing while you’re away. For dog walks, I focus on safety and fun. I use secure leashes/harnesses, keep a close eye on the environment, and adjust the pace to match your dog’s age and energy level — whether that’s a brisk stroll or a relaxed sniff walk. My goal is always to make sure your pet gets the exercise, attention, and care they deserve while giving you peace of mind.
About: Hi! I'm Reis, a dependable and active animal lover with both professional and personal pet care experience. I previously worked at a dog boarding facility where I supervised doggie daycare, monitored group play, and helped ensure dogs stayed safe, happy, and well cared for throughout the day. This experience taught me how to work with dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and energy levels. In addition to my professional experience, I have provided overnight house-sitting and pet-sitting services, caring for pets in their own homes and maintaining their regular routines while their owners were away. I understand how important it is for pets to feel comfortable and secure, and I strive to provide attentive, loving care that gives both pets and owners peace of mind. As someone with an active lifestyle, I enjoy spending time outdoors and can provide plenty of exercise, walks, playtime, and companionship. Whether your pet needs a long walk, a weekend sitter, or just some extra attention during the day, I'll treat them with the same care and respect I would give my own. I currently work a part-time job that allows me to have a lot of flexibility. I am able to work in all of Richmond and surrounding areas as well. When caring for pets in a client's home, I focus on maintaining their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while you're away. Through my experience working at a dog daycare facility, overnight house-sitting, and caring for both a senior dog and a young dog of my own, I've learned that every pet has different needs and energy levels. Whether your pet prefers a relaxed walk and extra patience or lots of activity and play, I'll make sure they receive personalized care and feel safe, happy, and loved.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mineral. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
