Pet care experience
I do an in home pet sitting service.I have been in business with my husband for over 20 years.We pet sit dogs in our home for any length of time needed be it one day,one week or one month.All dogs are kept in our kitchen with dog beds and toys.We have a covered deck in summer which goes down into a large dog yard.We like people to come and see our setup. I am also an owner of Rescue Dog Village.Our dogs are rescued from Louisiana,Mississippi,Alabama,Georgia,Tennesee and locally if possible.All dogs we pet sit will have to come with updated vet records and a rabies tag on the collar.Unfortunately we do not pet sit uneutered males.About this sitter: We own 5 dogs of our own.Our dogs are our children. Why I love dog sitting I have been taking care of dogs for over 20 years.Dogs are my life and what fulfills me.I am part owner of Rescue Dog Village in Ct.I have fostered and adopted out over 200 dogs.My husband and I own 5 dogs of our own .All are rescue dogs.I can't imagine not having a house full of crazy dogs all shapes and sizes.Some watch the squirrels and chipmunks that frequent our deck,some vege out and some spar and play together.I love to watch dogs interact and enjoy themselves as they become comfortable in our home. Meet my pets Our five babies are our children.They go where we go and have adjusted well to all the four legged company we get.We enjoy pet sitting because we are such animal lovers.It is always interesting to watch dogs interact and play.They are real characters and always want and show affection.I can't imagine doing anything else. About my yard Our kitchen goes out onto a covered fenced deck which goes right out into a large fenced in dog yard.Our dog yard is approximately 7500 square feet.My husband does his best to seed and groom the dog yard which I think looks beautiful for a good portion of the year. My experience administering medication I administer medication to dogs all the time.I have given several medications to one pet.There may be an additional fee if I administer more than one medication to one pet.

Background: First dog ever. 4.5 month old German Shepherd puppy that we had only owned for 1.5 months. We had purposely kept her away from other dogs due to vet recommending we wait until she received her 2nd round of shots. Also have not had much chance to socialize her with new people. Simply put, we didn’t think she’d be an issue with other people and dogs but didn’t know for sure. Needed a dog sitter due to flying out of state to attend a funeral. Zara was hesitant since we hadn’t had her long enough to know what her reaction would be especially since she had 3 dogs herself, one being a little chihuahua, but was willing to give it a try since we had no one else (all our friends and family had already said no). She volunteered to watch our puppy for one night, free of charge. That night went really well, at which point she was willing to take the job (and even gave us a large bag of puppy food she had received for her rescue!). We think it was a good experience for our puppy - she had a chance to run around and socialize with dogs of all shapes and sizes. And due to her experience with rescuing and working with dogs in the past, we have a better idea of what training we need to work on with our puppy and what areas we need to concentrate on. And as a new dog owner too new to know how dogs behave and how to address certain issues, she’s given me tips on what to do and has offered herself as a future resource for advice (of which I fully plan to take advantage of). I would definitely re-book Zara again. It was a good experience not just for our puppy, but for us as well.
My dogs were well cared for during my trip. Zara communicates well and is reliable! I have used her a couple of times now.
Not the best experience. When I picked up the dog he was very dirty, had bruises and looked scared. Not going back.
This was the first time for my Belle to be away from her family and home . It was not the best experience I heard however it was only her first time . I appreciated Zara taking her on such late notice . All ended well.

We do require that all owners bring their dog for a tryout and come and see our layout.We do not take Pit Bulls or Pit Bull Mixes.Dog owners must fill out a vet medical release form,have a rabies tag on their pets collar and provide a copy of their latest vet records to book a stay at our home.Shots include Rabies,Bordatella and all other yearly shots.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks Occasionally we will take your dog around our neighborhood for a walk if playing with other dogs at our house is not sufficient exercise.We live in a beautiful neighborhood with wide roads away from busy traffic or any main roads. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog will sleep any place he or she wants to in our kitchen on dog beds.If your dog stays with us frequently,they may get the run of the house.We also provide crates if requested by the owner otherwise two crates are always open if a dog wants to get away from the pack for some downtime. Time I'll spend with your dog Several hours on and off.I let the dogs intermingle,get to know each other and play.Once they are used to the place,they usually ignore me and just want to play.I usually go out and play ball and spend time with them in the dog yard.My husband also enjoys walking the dogs.
