Loving & experienced pet sitter!

Pet care experience

Hello! It’s nice to “meet” you! My name is Amanda (husband is Zak) and I am a trustworthy, energetic and committed pet sitter who would love to take care of your furry loved ones :) I am a lover of both cats and dogs (+ all furry friends for that matter!). I grew up with dogs in my life from a young age and also have had 10 cats in my lifetime! In fact, I was born into a house with 5 cats, and my first word was ... you guessed it - “CAT!”. All in all I have close to 25 years of experience with animals. During university I took care of (and fostered!) Wheaton Terriers, Schnoodles, Shihtzus and of course have always also had rescue cats of my own. I understand that all pets have very different personalities and needs. Therefore I never apply a one size fits all approach to caring for your pet. Whether it means slowly allowing your cat to feel comfortable over time by offering a peice of my clothing to sniff from a distance or immediately becoming best friends with your high energy dog, I have lots of experience reading your pets needs/wants and adjusting to them. I recently moved to a new townhome at Kipling & Bloor and am now accepting doggy day care requests! To note: I do have a cat, so I will only be accepting dogs that are comfortable with cats or are ok with being separated from the cat (I.e the dog on the main floor of the house, with the cat on the second floor). I have a fenced in backyard that is small but does the trick for letting dogs out to play as they wish or to get fresh air and have a potty break! Is it your first time using Rover? Shoot me a message to learn how you can get $20 off your booking with us OR/ use our personal discount code at checkout: ZAKARR27840 Services: Between the two of us we have tons of flexibility for dog walks, visiting/feeding cats or dogs at your home, or having dogs stay with us (day & overnight!). Zak works from home full time & Amanda is home most days other than out popping here and there for her part time job or other pet related activities! The only service we don’t offer is needle injections for your pet. If they need insulin needles regularly or any other kind of injection we wouldn’t be a good fit for your furry loved one. So sorry about that! Dog Boarding: The dog boarding fee that you see on Rover covers your dogs stay for a 24 hour period. If you need to extend the hours or slightly reduce the hours we are usually very flexible. During dog boarding stays your dog is free to go out in the fenced in backyard at anytime before 10pm and will always be let out/or taken for a walk for a potty break before we go to sleep. If your dog requires frequent potty breaks through the overnight hours we are able to accommodate for an extra charge. We are generally booked with at least one dog at any given time. This means it is rare that we can offer solo bookings. Of course, if you are the first to book a time slot and prefer your dog stay solo we will always do our best to accommodate. For solo stays there is an extra charge of $20/24 hours. Dog boarding stays include lots of walks, playtime, cuddles, pets, and love! Home Visits: The home visits base price covers a 1/2 hour visit. We have tons of experience taking care of cats! All visits include litter cleaning, feeding, oral medication if needed and as much playtime or cuddle time as your cat or dog would like. We understand that some cats are shy and may want to maintain their distance. We will respect whatever space your cat needs to be most comfortable. Generally Amanda will be in charge of home visits. We will always provide a very detailed update on your cats or dogs well-being as well as multiple photos! Don’t see a service that matches your needs or budget? Rover offers us the ability to create a custom quote! Just reach out over the message interface to discuss your pets needs and we will come up with a custom quote to suit you. Meet & Greets: We know from experience that you consider your pet as family so we assure you they will be in the very best of care! In order to ensure everyone feels happy and comfortable we like to schedule meet and greets to discuss how we can meet all of you and your pet’s needs. Since we care so much about your pets well being and happiness we do not take overnight boarding bookings longer than one night until we have hd a chance to get to know your dog. Some dogs (especially those growing up during the pandemic) have anxiety being left alone in a new environment and we would never want you to go away on an extended trip until we are such your dog feels worry-free in our home. For that reason, if you want to book boarding stays over 1 night we schedule a meet and greet and trial overnight to see if we are a good fit for your dogs needs. We do charge for trial nights however if your dog is a good fit and you book a longer stay with us in the future we will give you a free night to compensate you on your next booking. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. We look forward to chatting about how we can care for your pet! Service area: We mainly service the East Etobicoke area as well as Six Points, Old Mill, The Kingsway, Royal York, and Islington Village areas. For home visits we can extend our services to West Etobicoke, High park, and The Junction for an extra charge to cover gas and travel time. If you do not live in one of these above areas but still would like to access our services please send us a message so that we can discuss a custom quote.

Amanda is simply the best. Her love and care for animals comes through soooo much. Reese and Dori truly enjoyed having her take care of them. Amanda left detailed rover cards after every visit about how they were doing and what kind of treats she left them. We loved her pictures and that she took such care to make sure the little fur babies were happy. Amanda is truly amazing, we knew the kitties were in good hands and would be loved and taken care of at every visit. Reese and Dori want to say thank you so much for all the treats and love. They hope to see yoi again soon.

Amanda is the best sitter out there. She sent updates and pictures after every visit. You can feel the love she has for animals. Amanda left detailed rover cards after each visit with pictures and a detailed list of everything she did on every visit. It was very relaxing to be on vacation and know that our fur babies are being taken care of and getting lots of love and special care. Even though the cats didn't always come out to see her, they loved her from their hiding spots. Reese and Dori were really taken care of well we were away, and enjoyed every moment that they got to spend with Amanda when they weren't playing hide and seek. Amanda is simple the best and we could not have asked for a better sitter. Her love and big heart for animals can be felt during her sitting visits. Thank you for everything Amanda.

Amanda was very attentive to all the instructions to take care of my cats and very caring about them. She messaged me during the drop-in and sent pictures of everything, which was great and comforting.

As always, Amanda and Zak took such great care of Miya and make us feel so at ease with letting her in there. Perfect!

I have a small fenced in backyard which is great for some play and potty breaks for your dog. I will always follow any of your dogs rules and use the same training methods you use to help ensure there is consistency for your dog. Typically your dog will be on the main floor with me while our 14 year old cat Cleo naps on the second floor in her bed. When caring for your pet in your own home I will always leave your home looking the same as how you left it. I will only enter the rooms you approve of and follow all detailed instructions you provide.

Information Zakary & Amanda R. would like to know about your pet

I always like to keep things as consistent as possible for your pet so there is no such thing as too many details! Please let me know what your expectations are for your dog or cat in terms feeding times, feeding quantity, house rules, treat guidelines, and preferred play time/activity. It is very important to let me know about any special needs your pet has and whether they have any anxiety or issues being separated from you. I am used to getting to know anxious dogs and cats over time and eventually growing the relationship to the point where they are as comfortable with me as they are with you! For particularly anxious dog I sometimes do several shorter visits leading up to longer boarding stays to help build trust and rapport so your pet feels right at home. ❤️ We have done everything from warming food up to a certain temperature to administering daily oral medication as well as dealing with multiple potty breaks in the night. Don’t be shy to tell us exactly how we can best care for your pet.

A typical day

I live right around some great parks where we can walk the trails, stick to the paved path or go walk in the fields. Whatever is best for your pet! One service I do not offer is taking your dog to an off leash park as I don’t want to risk your dog being harmed by another dog while in my care. Safety is my top priority! Thank you for your understanding. :)
