I've had several dog family members in my time (along with a pair of cats), and so I've had experience keeping up with the insatiable wanderlust of border collies, the pull of a full-sized St. Bernard, and the endless love of cuddling from Yorkshire Terriers. I've never met a dog that I didn't love, but due to grad school and student loans, I am unable at present to provide full-time the kind of loving home and attention that I think dogs deserve. However, I would love to take care of your dogs during my lunch break or some of the other random breaks I get when I'm running experiments, and am perfectly happy walking or running with them. Really, this is you doing me a service. I also semi-regularly dog sit for some of my friends, so I'm quite accustomed to taking care of other people's dogs and all of the special care that sometimes is needed with each of their personalities. One time I came home to find that my roommate had dropped off his girlfriend's gigantic Rottweiler without telling any of us. This dog had never met me, and being in a strange place with no one else around, he was naturally quite hostile. However, I have a natural way with dogs, and by the time my roommate returned, Apollo and I were best friends. He liked to rest his head on my lap. I don't know many people who can say they've won over a confused, angry, barking, >100 pound Rottweiler, but I have, and I feel this exemplifies how well dogs and I get along.
