SPCA Volunteer & Recent UCSC Grad

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Willow and I'm a recent graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Cognitive Science! I absolutely love pets, especially cats and dogs. I’ve helped care for my parents' dogs since I was 8. I’ve been walking some of my neighbors' dogs for the past 9 years. I’ve also been cat-sitting for about 7 years. I trained with spcaLA during my youth and then again with the SPCA in Santa Cruz to know the best ways to care for any dog. My preferred method of training is positive reinforcement, and I’m happy to work with you rewarding your pet for good behavior. As a recent graduate, I'm currently searching for my dream job within my field. In the meantime, I have more than enough time and energy to care for your pets! While in college I spent my time volunteering with the SPCA in Santa Cruz, where I was able to give dogs a break from the shelter.

Willow has been so wonderful to our pup! We really appreciate all the love and attention Willow gave Mango each day. Makes me happy knowing Mango is in good hands and enjoying walks and playtime while we’re away. Thank you so much! We look forward to working with you again :)

Willow was so wonderful to my cat, Bebe! She communicated her schedule to me far in advance so nothing was a surprise. It made my holiday vacation so easy because I knew she was taking great care of my child :). I will definitely be reaching out to her again!

I came home to a cat and home well cared for my Willow in my absence. She was a pleasure to work with and is highly recommend by anyone needing a pet sitter and especially for drop in visits while away.

Willow is a responsible, creative, and loving caregiver! She is excellent with my two Boston Terriers (age 13 and 14), even with all their medications and special needs. She is extremely patient with dogs from various backgrounds who may still be working on their training, and willing to tailor her approach knowing that dogs are individuals with different personality traits and needs.

Information Willow L. would like to know about your pet

In order to properly care for your pet I need to know of any reactivity they experience, as well as your preferences for their care. For instance, I've worked with multiple dogs that are reactive to other dogs, or cars, or even people. Every pet and their pet parent(s) will have different preferences and if you have any specific ones I would love to know them!

A typical day

I absolutely adore animals of all shapes and sizes and I will greatly enjoy taking care of your pet. My only constraint is that I am not the strongest, and because of this for everyone's safety I prefer to only walk dogs under 60lbs (unless I know them quite well). I can't wait to get to know you and your pet! Please let me know if you have any questions, I will get back to you as soon as I can. :)

My schedule during the week tends to vary, but I can work with you to find times that work for both of us. However, I strongly prefer to have a meet and greet with pets and pet parent(s) before looking after your pets, which requires a few days notice on bookings. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
