Pet care experience
We are a multi-generational house which includes me, my 23 year old daughter, her boyfriend and my 20 year old son when he's home from college. I will also have a friend living here for a few months in while she's between apartments. From October through January, I work mostly from home and love to have the company a dog or two. This time of year, February through August, I spend most of my work day out of the house and close my business to new dogs. However, if your dog is okay being alone for the workday, feel free to message and we can discuss having them come anyway. We used to have two chocolate labs but after they passed, life was too hectic. We've slowed down now and have been enjoying dog sitting for a friend. It feels like the time is right to continue caring for others' dogs so we'll welcome yours like he/she is our own! For day-sitting, we can provide walks and car rides, and on some days a trip to a dog park if you'd like. For overnight boarders, we can provide the same and, sometimes can do a beach walk. I'm happy to answer any other questions you have about me or our situation here. Just ask!

This is the 3rd time my dog Kodak has stayed with Whitney and I have nothing but good things to say. Whitney and her entire household ensure that my dog feels loved and cared for to the utmost degree. He is allowed on the couch and he bed, and I get pictures showing him happily chilling with Whitney as well as with her kids and housemate. Kodak loves them all and actually races up the stairs to her front door each time I drop him off. Whitney is very accomodating in terms of drop off and pick up times, and is a great communicator who responds quickly to messages as well. She's a true gem and has become my go-to dog sitter on Rover,
Thank you Whitney! You took great care of Teddy, he came back to us happy and healthy :)
Whitney is so nice and she took great care of my pup Beatrice super last minute on a holiday. I appreciate her so much! :)
I knew my dog would be safe with a wide variety of rover sitters- but for me it wasn’t just about him being safe but loved and understood (he is a very sensitive guy.) At the meet and greet I could feel the care a warmth from Whitney and her family members. She had patience, love and care for him which meant the world to me! Will definitely be a repeat client :)

Safety, trust & environment
My goal is to meet the dog's own needs. Whether they need to be crated or have full run of their environment, enjoy cuddling or are a loner, your dog will be very comfortable here. If they like to sleep on a bed, the floor, or their crate I can meet their needs.

Information Whitney S. would like to know about your pet
We live in an apartment (of a building I own) so need to know whether they are "barkers" and that they can handle stairs to the 2nd and 3rd floor. Additionally, I need to know whether they are food or trash hounds so we can make sure we don't have a mess on our hands or lose our dinner if we turn our backs for a moment! Its also good know if your dog has issues with particular types of people - will he/she shy away from or worse, growl at, males? females? older folks? Finally, please know that I normally will accept 2 dogs at a time, sometimes 3. If you prefer that your furry friend be here without another dog, there will be a Premium fee of $35/day added to your bill.
A typical day
We live near Deering Oaks Park so walks will be there or around Portland. Sometimes we walk on Mackworth or the Eastern Prom too. Does your dog have a favorite spot within reasonable distance? We can walk there also!

I'm an early riser and like to walk in the morning. I also love to have a dog in my office while I'm working but they'll have access to the rest of the house if they'd prefer. And after a day at the desk, I need to move my body so walking again in the evening is a must.
