I can wait to meet you pet(s)! :)
Pet care experience
Hi there! My name is Whitney, and I am a 27-year-old living in Jersey City. I grew up in a home with at least three inside pets at all times, so I’m very passionate about animals of all kinds. I teach high school students at the moment, which is incredibly demanding and time consuming (but so rewarding!) and don’t currently feel that I have the time to dedicate all the love, attention and care I would like to to a pet of my own. But pet sitting is a perfect balance. I live in a pretty busy area close to several dog parks, so your pet will have plenty of room to roam around and exercise (but let me know if that's not your furry friend's vibe!). I also have a fenced in back patio which provides the perfect sunbathing spot, and all animals have free reign of the apartment. I can’t wait to chat with you and meet your pet! Feel free to text or call me if you have any questions. I look forward to working with you! Scheduling Notes: While I do work 8am-4:30pm, I live just a ten minute walk from my home, so if your friend needs care in the middle of the day, I have quick access! Care Notes: I have a fenced in back patio for outside time and sunbathing, as well as a nearby park for exercise! All animals have free reign of the apartment, but I can also crate your pet if necessary!
Reviews
Do Not Leave Your Doggies with Whitney! Let me start with the false advertising about her living conditions and work schedule. She indicated she has a terrace for the dogs to sun bathe if they wanted to, but what she really has is a place where she puts the garbage on the side of her basement apt that was infested with ants. Whitney also said she is always home because she is a teacher and it's summertime. I left my Cocker Spaniel (Kobe) puppy (4 months) and my 3 year old Shih Tzu (Scottie) for a week with Whitney. We provided Whitney with the do's and don'ts for both dogs. Whitney knew I was on my way to Mexico. Day 1, in the morning, she contacted me that Kobe pooped in her apartment. Then contacted me about 8 more times that day saying Kobe keeps going to the bathroom in her place. What did she want me to do, I'm out of the country! I asked if he appears to be sick, barking or crying...she said no. I asked her if she was walking him and she said she did walk him -- I didn't believe her because she also indicated she lived across the street from a lovely park where the dogs can walk...the park was filled with drug addicts and broken bottles. I said my dog can't be left alone for more than and hour, but Whitney was leaving my dogs for hours to go to work and comes back wondering why my 4 month old puppy pooped. Day 2 - she contacted me again in the morning saying she doesn't want to do this any longer; it's not a good fit. What did she want me to do, I'm in Mexico? I inadvertently left my house keys at Whitney's home and she asked for my address and said she thinks it would be a good idea to take my keys and enter my home unattended and drop my dogs off to leave by themselves for 4 days. What kind of dog lover would suggest such a thing? I was freaking out because I was so worried about my pups. I had to go back and forth with Rover to get my dogs a new sitter because I wouldn't be surprised if Whitney would have let my dog lose and said ooops. Rover found me a wonderful sitter who has no complaints about my pups. He walked them twice daily and they were fine. I'm absolutely disgusted that Rover kept Whitney on their site. She is the worst sitter I have ever come across. Please if you love your dogs, don't leave them with Whitney. FYI, I gave her one star because I couldn't leave it blank.
Whitney was so patient and loving with little Jax, the most anxious little dog in the world. He’s got a lot of separation anxiety which tripled during covid and Whitney was extremely reassuring and we’re so grateful. I would highly recommend her and would absolutely book her again!
Whitney was the best! It was my brother’s first time leaving his dog with a Rover and he was extremely nervous. Whitney was amazing, she sent lots of pictures and updates. She was soo understanding. My only regret is that I didn’t use her for my own dog. Both my brother and I will be using her again!
Whitney was very caring with our very needy quarantine kitten, giving him the cuddles and companionship he needed while sitting in our home. We returned home from a long weekend to an apartment and kitten as though we had never left! She was very neat and tidy and thorough in her care for Sullivan, seemingly comfortable with him as he is training to use the toilet. She was also very honest and transparent about her other commitments she’d need to tend to during the weekend. We would definitely rebook!

Information Whitney H. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know of any allergies, dietary needs, and medications so I can best care for your pup! Additionally, advisement of any triggers (other dogs, thunder storms, etc.) would be greatly appreciated!
A typical day
Each morning starts with a walk around the neighborhood (post-breakfast). As I get ready for work, I like the leave the back patio door open, so your pet can get some fresh air and outside time in the morning. I can come home on lunch to play and let your pet out as necessary, and after work we'll go on a longer walk to the park by my house!
