We had Labradors growing up throughout my life. They had excellent temperaments! I learned later that this was because of my dad... He is a patient man who could keep throwing the ball so-to-speak. He taught all three of our Labs, Bud, Dozer, and Buster (who all proceeded the previous) to do the basics...potty train...sit, laydown, stay. And I learned by watching that having patience was the most important part of the training. I learned with our dog Buster how to use the reward system to get what I wanted out of a training episode and then he was rolling over on command in a couple hours. I was so excited! I have also tried this with a couple's small poodle mix. Before dinner was over she was dancing in a circle for a treat! They were very impressed!
