Pet care experience

I know just how difficult it can be to find quality care for your pup when you’re away. I’ve been in a few pet-sitting emergencies myself, and I’ve discovered that having trusted folks to take care of your pooch is always the way to go. Putting your pup in a kennel is never fun, and it’s always great for your pup to have that one-on-one experience they get with a sitter. That’s what inspired me to become one in the first place! I love being able to give back to pups and my community alike by providing my services to them. There’s just nothing like a happy pup and the peace of mind you get when you know that your pooch is in good hands while you’re away. I love all dogs! The best part of being a sitter is just how much time I get to spend around loving pups. I currently have a 9-year-old King Charles Cavalier named Sadie, and she absolutely loves having new friends over. She’s the friendliest pup on the planet and really can’t get enough play time in her life. In addition to that, I’ve had plenty of experience raising and training puppies. It’s always such a joy helping new life grow into happy dogs! Likewise, I’ve also fostered several dogs of all different breeds into their forever home, which was just such an amazing experience. When taking on a new client, I typically like to schedule a meet-and-greet. It’s a great way to make sure that we’re all a good fit for one another, which is so important to me. Likewise, it gives us the opportunity to chat face-to-face about your pup and your care expectations. No one knows your dog better than you do, so it’s always great to chat with owners in person about what makes their pup tick! Finally, I just love meeting new dogs! I like to get down on their level to show them that I’m a welcome presence here to make friends, and I’m sure we’ll be best buddies in no time at all. Lastly, I believe that communication is one of the most important aspects of every stay. When your pup is under my care, you and your pup will always be in the know. I know that every dog has their own personal needs and wants, so I listen to my owners and my pups to get a good idea about what it is that would work the best for them. I’m happy to adhere to any and all schedules and/or regimens, since pups are creatures of habit. Likewise, you’ll be the recipient of frequent check-ins with accompanying pictures, so you can know just how your pup is doing and see how much fun we’re having together!

Wendy was fabulous with our cav! We were very anxious to leave him when we went out of town for the weekend, but Wendy made us feel better by sending lots of pictures! It was nice for him to have a dog companion as well. Highly recommend!

Wendy did an excellent job with my over 17 year old dachshund who requires several meds, multiple times a day. In addition, I also have a 13 year old dachshund with a lot of energy & requires a lot of supervision, that she cared for as well. Wendy took excellent care of them & my apartment during her house stay. I never worried during my trip & came home to happy, healthy dogs!

Information Wendy H. would like to know about your pet

Some things I like to learn ahead of time: Would you like to schedule a meet-and-greet before the stay? What’s your preferred method of communication? Does your pup have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers? Do you have a vet nearby that you trust? Is your dog spayed/neutered? Does your pup like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening? What does your pup do well around? What does your pup try to avoid? What’s the best way to spoil your pup?

A typical day

I will be at home during the day, since I work from home, so your pup will always have someone around them at all times. That means I’m a great fit for pups that are used to having a human presence around them, or for pups that would benefit from that! Sadie and I typically go on several walks throughout the day and try to get out of the house for 4-5 hours just walking around and getting exercise. I live on the upper east side of Manhattan, and there are just so many great places to go and explore! There’s a building right next to my building that is for short trips, and Charles Schulz or Central Park for longer trips. There are just so many things to do, and we’ll never be starved of adventure!
