My name is Wendy and I live in the Glen Abbey area of Oakville Ontario. I have a very large dog friendly, fenced backyard for a dog to explore. I am a classic "dog lover". I've always had a dog growing up, a poodle, Pepper, when I was young and three years ago our beautiful Ginger, a golden retriever passed away at the age of 15-1/2. She was a wonderful dog and was a big part of our family. I do not want to own another dog at this stage in my life but I feel I can offer my same passion and love by sitting dogs. I am home 24/7 and for over a year now with my husband. I have been trained and am on the Puppy Sitting List with the National Service Dog Association in Cambridge, Ontario to puppysit/train service dogs. I am also a volunteer with Just Paws, a non profit organization that places rescue dogs in happy homes. Pre-Covid, I also volunteered with TEAD, an organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding instruction to people with physical and cognitive/communication disabilities. My job was taking care of the horses and assisting riders as they engaged in their lessons. Sitting dogs has been a wonderful experience being able to take care of different breeds and personalities of dogs. I never had this service for our dog Ginger, and I know the feeling of being at ease on vacation (or other) knowing your precious family dog was loved and well cared for. It’s priceless ! At the same time, It has also filled a spot in my heart being with a dog again. It’s a great fit ! A usual day with a pup would look a lot like having a child: Lots of play and treats (training if the owner needs that), a couple of walks a day or playing in the backyard and lots of attention, and hanging out like a family member in the family room in the evenings ! I am always so excited when there is a dog in the house, attention is never a problem ! I welcome dogs anywhere in the house (2400 square foot home). I have dog beds, dog dishes, dog toys and dog treats. I’d love to take care of your "someone special" ! NOTE: MAXIMUM 3 NIGHT STAY DURING COVID
