Pet care experience
Whether you require regular daytime walks, occasional drop-in visits, or overnight sitting, you can count on me to treat your pet like a precious, irreplaceable gem! I’m the pawrent of a Pekingese dog and two Exotic Shorthair cats, and a foster meowmie for other kitties. I have lots of experience with senior and special-needs pets, including as a volunteer dog walker for PAWS NY, an organization that helps people in need keep their pets in their lives. I am even available for vet appointments - I will transport your pet to the vet, stay for the appointment, pick up medicines, and report results to you. I know how hard it is to manage unexpected vet visits when you’re juggling work and family obligations as well!

I have someone stay with my animals when I travel, and I’m very serious about getting daily reports, so I’d bring that level of conscientiousness to you. I am accepting of animals’ unique personalities. In fact, I’m writing this in the bathroom where I’m keeping my thunder-phobic dog company during a storm. If I have to sit on a bathroom floor to keep an animal comfortable, I will!
Information Wendy B. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any health or other issues that affect their walking. (It doesn’t have to be physical: for instance, the first time a new person walks my dog Edward, he always picks a time to lie down on the sidewalk and refuse to move!) I have significant experience with dogs that aren’t friendly with other dogs, so that doesn’t bother me as long as there is no bite history. Please note that for the safety of your dog during walks, I recommend the use of a harness rather than a collar.
A typical day
Every dog has different entertainment and exercise needs. I walk one very senior dog that needs to ride in a wagon to the park, and I follow his lead on how long we stay. My Pekingese thinks a walk around the block is plenty of exercise. But if a dog is more athletic and has energy to burn, I love going on long walks.. The same goes for cats: I adapt to their purrsonalities. We can play, cuddle, or just sit quietly together. One thing I avoid with dogs is off-leash dog parks/runs - I think those are too risky for many dogs. I also don’t do group walks of dogs from multiple households. I believe a walker’s attention should be 100% on one client’s dogs.

I am self-employed as a designer and writer and quite flexible time-wise. In addition to dogs and cats, I’m also happy to care for bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, birds, and other exotic pets.
