Cuddles Not Puddles

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Wanda and I am an animal lover. I can not remember a time growing up when we didn't have animals. As a little girl, my family raised various sizes and breeds of dogs and this is when I learned the importance of longterm pet commitment and the fact that they are family for life. For 30 years I have volunteered and fostered for various animal organizations and all of my fur-babies are rescues. I currently volunteer at the Jacksonville Humane Society. 4 years ago I introduced my son Korben, now 15, to the wonderful world of animal volunteering/rescue. His kindness and patience has earned him the nickname the "cat-whisperer" because even the most shy and timid cat/kitten will warm up to him. Together, Korben and I would like to help you with your furry family members by doing drop-in visits and walks. We're the perfect team! With his energy and love for animals, he will play, love and nurture your pets while paying massive amounts of attention to them. I will make sure feedings, medicines or other instructions are followed to a T. We will take care of puppies/kittens to senior dogs/cats and everything in between. My son will be with me most of the time, unless I'm needed while he is at a school or a sports function. I believe it will continue to teach him responsibility, nurture and love for animals. We will work as a team during drop-ins and dog walks but he will never be alone with the animals. If this is an issue, please let me know and arrangements may be made without his assistance.

Wanda is one of the few people I will trust to take care of my animals when I'm out of town. She loves them and they love her. I also trust her too be in my home while I am away. Wanda and her son have a huge heart. They've been working with our areas local Humane organizations to find homes for cats. They also have a home full of pets with two cats a dog and a bearded dragon, all of which are very well cared for. Rover could not hire a team more qualified to pet sit and butler!

I knew from the moment I met Wanda at work that I was going to enjoy working with her, and getting to know her. Her huge heart and humbling manner radiates when she's around and she's always been willing to drop what she's doing to help another. So it was no surprise to me when she didnt hesitate to take in the stray kitten that showed up at work. Initially she was going to take it for testing and to be spayed, but she took to the kitten so much and so quickly, it soon became a part of her family. To this day you can find regular posts about her many animals, because they're more her children than pets!

Information Wanda G. would like to know about your pet

What I'd like to know about your pet. Are they potty trained? Are they kennel trained? How does your pet respond to new people in their home? Outside of the home? If really young or really old, are there restrictions to activities they can do? Are they up to date on shots and flea medicine? Are they leash/harness trained? Are they "runners", do I need to pay special attention to distractions (cats, squirrels, cars or people) while on walks? What is their energy level?

A typical day

Dog Walking: Walks will be done in your neighborhood. Leash and collar or harness, for high energy dogs must be provided by you. The walks will be done by me and my son Korben(15), or me alone if he is in school. Drop-Ins: We will play fetch, tug-of-war, chase, etc in your yard (weather permitting-leash required if not fenced). If you are training your puppy/dog, we can help reenforce the training while we are with your pet. Food, water, medicine and clean-up of accidents in the house would be taken care of at this time also. We love to do drop-ins on dogs and cats. We can discuss other animal's needs also (lizards, birds, etc).
