Pet care experience
Many years ago I used to take care of my neighbors' golden retriever. This led to dog-sitting at my house, house-sitting, cat-sitting, plenty of dog walking, as well as some hiking with dogs. Even now, golden retrievers are one of my favorite breeds.

Wade was a wonderful caretaker and companion for Louie! His love of hiking and personality perfectly matched Louie and he understood the needs of our active boy. Wade was super responsive and communicated sending several updates and photos during Louie’s stay. We’re so lucky to have found him!
Our Siberian Husky had a wonderful time with Wade during one of the weekends last month. I think it was Wade’s first time with a Siberian, so I explained that the breed is a bit of an escape artist and that Siberians tend to “test” a new handler. He seemed to have done well with our 3-year-old Siberian. In the first afternoon/evening that our Sibe was with Wade, he walked with Wade in town. On Saturday, Wade took him for a six mile walk in the snow, something our pup really loves doing. Wade took pictures of him in the car and outside on the path. On Sunday, they went on a walk around Lake Somerset and, once again, took pictures during their activity. Our Sibe didn’t eat much during his stay, but that’s not surprising since it was a new environment for our dog. It’s normal for him to eat less when he’s with others. We felt that Wade took great care of our doggo and would recommend him!
Wade is great with Pisco. Takes him for walks, plays with him, and makes him feel right at home. Pisco is an active dog and craves personal affection. Wade gives him both. I highly recommend Wade and hope to use his services again.
Wade provided excellent care of our beagle Brimley! He followed his feeding and supplement schedule perfectly and took him on some wonderful hikes. He also sent several pictures and reassuring reports each day that gave us peace of mind that our dog was happy and well cared for. This helped us relax and enjoy our family vacation!

My house has a large, well maintained yard with plenty of room for dogs to play and "do their business". My yard isn't fenced, so I'll keep dogs on a leash at all times when outside. If your dog likes hiking I'm an avid hiker and have found that hiking always goes better with dogs!

I want your dog to have an enjoyable stay, so please feel free to share anything that will help accomplish this. Even the tiniest details can make a difference and I'd rather have too much information than not enough.
A typical day
I love to hike and am fortunate to have plenty of great trails nearby. There's a nature reserve a few miles away and the Laurel Highlands Trail is about 15 miles from my house. Closer to home, Somerset is a very walkable community and there's a short trail to a creek in my yard.

Availability
Whenever I have a Rover booking I try to spend as much time with the dog as possible. For short stays (1-4 days) I usually don't have to leave the dog home alone at all. For longer stays I try to minimize time away and when I am out it's typically very brief - running a couple of errands, grocery store, etc.
