Pet care experience
Last year, my family's 7 year-old mini Australian Shepherd (45 lbs), Flynn, moved in with me full-time when my mom had to get surgery and was going through an extensive recovery process. For the next year and a half, I was responsible for walking, feeding, bathing, and caring for Flynn. As a runner, I was even able to train him to run on leash next to me! Once my mom was fully recovered and able to take care of Flynn, he moved back in with her. (June 2023 update: my mom's medical situation has changed, so Flynn is back in NYC with me. He is good with other dogs). Since then, I have missed taking care of pets and worked with a rescue for a few months to foster a 9 month old border collie named Prince. Prince lived with me for about 3 months before getting adopted! During his time with me, we worked a lot on leash walking skills and some basic command training. To this day, I'm still so proud of the progress we made in the 3 months we were together! Occasionally, I also dog-sit/board a family friend's 4 year old golden doodle, Otis.

Would NOT recommend! For the amount of money I paid to have her watch my dog, she was texting me with new issues daily it seemed and my dog was stressed the entire time not eating. When he got home he ate 3 bowls of food. I leave my dog with other sitters about twice a month and many of them also have other dogs and I’ve never once had an issue. Keep in mind she also had another dog and will walk your dog with other dogs as well. My dog was hiding in the corner after I left him with her so something definitely happened and my poor boy was beyond stressed the entire time.
What a great experience we had with Vivien dog sitting for Sweet Emma! As first time Rover users, we didn’t know what to expect and everything exceeded what we imagined. Sweet Emma was SO excited to meet Vivien and Flynn and had a wonderful day getting exercise and attention when she otherwise would have had to be home alone for many hours while we attended a class in Brooklyn. Vivien was great about providing photos and updates (which we requested) and otherwise was super capable and comfortable with Sweet Emma all day which let us focus on our class. Would absolutely recommend Vivien for any of your pup’s needs and I hope she will be available to us for future needs!
Vivien is the best! Was so sweet with our pup and he absolutely loved walking with her!

I will keep them on leash when I take them out and only let them off leash at fenced-in dog parks with your permission. At dog parks, I am very cautious of the dog park two-gate etiquette to make sure all dogs are safe.

For walks - Please let me know if your dog has any specific triggers (skateboards, kids, etc.) or if they are good with other dogs (if no, I can leave my dog Flynn at home, otherwise I will bring him along for walks). Please also let me know if you are comfortable with me taking and letting your dog off leash in fenced-in dog parks. For boarding / petsitting in your home - please let me know if your dog is ok around other dogs. Would also be great to know any additional routine stuff that you want me to keep up while you are gone. Thanks!
A typical day
I will take your dog on walks (or even runs if that is something you are interested in us doing) or take them to the dog park to socialize with other dogs. My favorite dog walking spot is the west side highway! I also love the dog run at Madison Square Park. I've also enjoyed taking dogs to Boris & Horton in the East Village.

Availability
I live alone and work from home so my schedule is pretty flexible. By now, I am used to living with a pet and taking care of them on a daily basis.
