Pet Checks and Chill? Let's go! (:

Pet care experience

I have been dog sitting as a side hustle with some SoCal regulars for years and decided that I wanted to continue doing so in the lovely Sf Bay Area. It started with my own two precious dogs and just a love for animals, big and small. I appreciate how pets look after us in their own way and I find that my understanding of them keeps growing with every new furball I meet. A lot of my experience began as vet visits and follow up care for owners who were tied up with work and, of course, taking care of my own pups when they needed it. Eventually, I became someone who would do drop-ins for feeding, bathroom breaks, or overnight stays for vacationing parents. I know too well how travel isn't always pet friendly or accommodating and how uncertain it is leaving something important with a stranger. That's why I strive to be completely transparant about what I can and cannot do for each new pet parent so expect an open line of communication. **Though my preference is to care for dogs, I will not turn away a mixed home. I may not be able to fulfill perks such as bathing for adult cats, however, due to my limited experience doing so with them. When I had my own, she was groomed just about daily and never required too many full on baths--usually pet safe wet wipes would do the trick. On the other hand, I am very comfortable with kitten care due to a fews years of strays having litters in my backyard.

Victoria was great at taking care of our shy, skiddish dog Gary while we were gone for the weekend. Although he didn’t open up to her as he is such a skiddish dog, she still good great care of him and we knew he was safe and cared for while we were gone! Thank you Victoria!

Victoria is very caring and careful when she takes care of pets. She took care of my two dogs and did a wonderful job. I will trust her with the care of my pets anytime.

As one of her closest friends I’d say Victoria is in general a kind hearted person. She shows compassion for others and has always been an animal lover. She is a timely responsible person who has immaculate determination. In terms of dog care she has more knowledge in the subject then most dog trainers I’ve meet. Her high activity level would also be a plus if she’s walking dogs. She’s well known for going on longer hikes and runs as well. From what I know she’s owned dogs for the past 13 years and has been a tremendous dog owner. Overall I’d say Victoria is would be an excellent addition to Rover as a dog sitter/walker.

Note: I have my own dog, Terrina, who has joined me in the past whenever I'd make house calls, however, she will not be doing so for any short-term Rover services. This way, my focus will be only on my client's pets. For simple breaks, I check the house for any accidents (for indoor pets) before taking the dog(s) out for a light 15-35min. stroll followed by filling up water bowl(s) if necessary before I leave. -walk can be substituted for at-house playtime. -if you prefer I let pets out in a backyard/patio instead, I will do so and make sure that "business" is taken care of. -waste will be disposed of in proper bin. -depending on my available time, I will extend the walk for higher energy dogs. Combination feeding and bathroom drop-in visits will start with letting pets out (if indoors) to relieve themselves, then playtime, or a walk, followed by feeding them per owner's instructions. -I would like to know details such as designated bowls, quantity, and eating locations or any other relevant info. (e.g. "Fluffy cannot stand eating next to Princess, so please place them at least 3 ft apart") -I can administer tricky medicines and navigate some nipping, however, will not deal with overly aggressive does exceeding 40 lbs. Baths can be given after the second house-sitting reservation (or third day of the initial one) on Fridays or weekends only with prior agreement. This is to allow time to build some rapport with a pet. -Clients must have their own supplies such as brushes, shampoo, and designated doggie towel. -up to 2 small dogs or 1 large one per day. -will not do outdoor baths in the evenings or when it's cooler than 60F. -Please do not ask me to bathe an aggressive dog of any size, water + soap makes for an accident prone environment. -I would recommend indoor bathing as dogs have the tendency of rubbing themselves on "unclean" surfaces like dirt or grass when cleaned. To avoid wetting furniture, I towel blot and blowdry afterwards. -NOT a pet stylist, but I can trim moderate matting Overnights/House-sitting stays includes all of the services above (given that conditions for bathing have also been met). I would require access to the kitchen for heating/cooking my own meals and a small bit of fridge space--I bring my items. This would vary depending on how long I am house-sitting and whether or not I am staying overnight. While I would prefer a bedroom to stay in, I would be able to manage with hunkering down on a couch for a night or two given that clean bedding has been left for me. I would also like to have clients close all rooms before leaving their home. It minimizes potential pet mischief when they are sometimes home alone. I will not be opening any unless instructed to do so, such as my designated room/bathroom or if the pets have a specific room they are allowed to stay in. Finally, I will require the wifi password as I will need to do work on my tablet/computer. You can expect to hear back from me through text within 2 hours if not within 5 min during the week. I do take calls from 9am-11pm unless there was a previous arrangement to do so earlier/later. If I can't answer, I will text you when I can. In this service, pets will get: -2 walks a day -2-3 meals -grooming (basic brushing/deshedding can be given when the bath option is unavailable) -playtime and cuddles! -for sickly dogs, I can cook pet-safe bland meals given that the owner leaves supplies. A note regarding COVID-19: I have been vaccinated and taken a booster. I don't have a problem wearing a mask for short services but would not do so throughout the overnight ones. My clients' safety is also important to me so I will not risk accepting services if I do feel ill. I understand people have different sentiments about the pandemic, so I would like to make it known that I will do my best to accomodate to best relieve any concerns.

Information Victoria S. would like to know about your pet

I would appreciate being made aware of any health conditions or concerns that your pet has so that I may be cautious in their care. For example, a bad heart can’t be overworked with too much stimulation. Also, any triggers to watch out for will be very appreciated. Believe it or not, I know there are some dogs who are absolutely spooked by plastic bags. Don’t want to be unnecessarily stressing out any pups!

A typical day

A typical visit usually starts with checking in with the owner on how their dog is doing before I go ahead and start playtime. Either I use a toy or simply hype them up and play a sort of tag with them. If walking is an option, I’d get them leashed up to go out around the neighborhood.
