Pet care experience
My calm presence puts pets at ease. I earn the trust of shy cats and anxious dogs, and I am reliable and communicative with pet parents. I enjoy taking care of cats, walking dogs, and spending time with pets while you're at work or out on a date night. I also have experience with guinea pigs and other small animals, so let me know if you need alternate care! I grew up with dogs, ranging from a 6 pound Yorkie to a 70 pound German Shepherd mix. Ever since I was a kid, I would take care neighborhood dogs and cats while their pet parents were away. I have experience with a large variety of dogs, ranging from dachshunds and Jack Russels, terrier and poodle mixes, to Rhodesian Ridgebacks. I helped potty train our puppies, socialize them, and taught them to bite toys, not fingers. I am a happy cat parent to 4 cats, and I've owned multiple cats at a time for the last 13 years. I'm very observant with pets, and I will care for your pet as an extension of my family.

While with pets, I make sure my full attention is on them. I only provide care for one pet family at a time - I do not do "pack walking." While out on a walk, a dog can quickly become distracted and eat trash, lunge after a rabbit, or nose a poisonous plant. During a walk, my focus is on your dog - not my phone or my music. I feel it's important to provide respectful and attentive care to each pet. Likewise, if I am caring for your pet in your home, I spend time with them in the same room they are in and provide love, affection, and companionship.

I tailor my approach to each dog's needs, and it's important for me to know if they are typically high energy, have a history of trauma, or are reserved around people they haven't met yet.
A typical day
I love to provide the walk your dog needs! Some dogs thrive on stimulating "training" walks that incorporate simple commands, and some dogs want a pleasant stroll. I approach each dog individually to meet their needs (and owner's wishes).

Availability
I am available full time for pet care: dog walking, cat visits, or extended care in your home. I am a part-time Early Childhood Educator, and I'm happy to bring my lesson-planning to your home and provide company for your pet while you're at work or a social function.
